This week, February 27-March 3, we are looking at songs that are inspirational or inspire you in some way. Songs of this type have different meanings in different contexts, so the same song for two different people may be interpreted in two or more different ways. Inspirational songs can be religious, secular, pop, rap, hip hop, country, or from any genre when they hold meaning to a listener. Find your favorite inspirational song and post a response about the following:
1) Why you consider it inspirational
2) What genre it is from
3) What in the music (lyrics, instruments, meaning, etc) justify it being inspirational
4) Include a link to the video in your post
Check all spelling, grammar, and turn your post in by March 3, 2017, 11:59 pm. No late posts are accepted. No duplicate songs are accepted, even if they are by different singers/performers.
Here is an example of an inspirational song I chose (you cannot post this same song or any variation of it).
This week I chose Mercedes's from glee cover on "Beautiful" by Christina A. It is inspiring to me because of the events that happened before the performance. Mercedes was struggling with her image and did not know how to feel about herself. The song inspired me to believe what I believe and do not follow no one else's expectations. The song is pop and performed with lyrics. I think it is good for modern music to be inspiring.

The inspirational song I chose is "You're Bigger" by Jekalyn Carr. This gospel song is a song that talks about how God is bigger than any problem/situation you have going on in your life and to always keep the faith. Jekalyn with her being a younger singer some may think she isn't developed enough but through this song her message gets through with the lyrics. The song uses instruments such as vocals, drums, and piano. The song is a song that teaches us although we may be going through different situations continue to push through because God is greater.

I consider it an inspirational song because I am religous and I talk about how God will make a way through any storm, deliver you through any strongholds, and protect you from any storms. This is a gospel song, and to some it might be considered a modern spiritual. Shirley Ceasar talks about "how she tried..." the Lord and "he made away..." for her and he can make away for you. And our "miracle is one the way."

The song "Try" by Colbie Caillat is inspirational to me and I think that it would be inspirational to many other girls if they knew this song. In this song she says many times "You don't have to change a single thing, you don't have to try." In this empowering R&B song, Colbie Caillat is sending out a message to all women to learn how to accept themselves without make-up or anything that will hide away or try to enhance their natural beauty. Make-up doesn't define beauty and its possible to be beautiful without it. This song inspires me because it reminds me that even when i think about wearing make-up for the first time, that I don't need to. Natural beauty stands out more.

"Bad" by Micheal Jackson happens to be my inpirational song. I know it might seem a little confusing, but I consider myself a "bad boy" and they thought Micheal was a bad boy, but I define all 'Bad Boys!" This song inspires me to live as who I am. You can hear me singing the lyrics..."You know I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it." This song is Pop Rock.

I consider Tamela Mann as an inspiration just by herself. One of the most inspirational songs she has ever produced is "I can Only Imagine." This song is a gospel song that I love hearing. Mr. Jones says that I look just like Corra, Tamela Man, from the show, "Meet the Browns." The song talks about how she can only imagine how good it will feel to be in the presence of the Lord. I hope that day isn't soon, but when it does come I am inspired that I will have the same reactions that she describes.

My inspirational song is "Break Every CHain," by Tasha Cobb. I have been through many things in my life , but one thing that has never left is the love of God. This gospel song is what we call a healing song in my church or a worship song. This song brings me to tears beaccuse she says there is power in the name Jesus, and that he will break every chain. This helps me daily knowing that at the end of the day the Lord has me covered and all I have to do is call out his name and all demens will be cast out.

The inspirational song that I chose is "True Colors" by All Angels. This song is originally sung by Cyndi Lauper. This song is inspirational for me because it is begging the listener to be who they are on the inside and not to let anyone change you. This genre is Indie/ Alternative. The four part harmonies in the song add to the depth of the lyrics and with only a few instruments accompanying the girls, it just makes this song mean more to me.

The song I chose for this week is "Brand New Me" by Alicia Keys. The song means a lot to me because it means that its okay to change, and some people need to left behind if they do not understand that. This song has an R&B feel to it. The lyrics are very personal and I like how it kind of symbolizes a caterpillar forming into a butterfly. This song means so much to me, the lyrics are more than words on paper.

The song that I choose is by Cynthia Erivo and Oliver Tompsett called " I've Already Won ". I like this song because it reminds me to always dream my own dreams and live my life to the fullest. It tells me to live in the moment and never let go of all of the hardest things I have worked for because I've come to far. This song is I guess considered a pop song. The lyrics speak to whoever is listening to "never let life pass you by", because everything you have done, every struggle or obstacle you have ever had to face, you've already won it.

The song that I choose for this week is " Scare To Your Beautiful " by Alessia Cara. This is a pop song that simply reminds girls how beautiful we are. Her lyrics tells us that we don't have to conform to societies definition of beauty. Our beauty is within us and it doesn't matter what we look like because " beauty goes deeper than the surface". She inspires me to remember that I am who I am, and no one can change that.

The song I chose for this blogpost is "Here Comes a Thought". I find this song inspirational because it shows that it's okay to mess up sometime; that we, as people, over react to small issues. The song is very light and soft; it soothes. The lyric "all these little things seem to matter so much" is one of my favorites. It inspires me to not worry so much. Another line that inspires me is "take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust" which also happens to be the first line of the entire song. This lyric tells us to stop for a moment and consider the positive things surrounding us. This is my interpretation, at least. In my opinion, the song generally would be best for people with anxiety disorders, highly elevated anxiety, or just anyone that needs to take a minute to calm down.

A song that inspires me would have is a song by Estelle called " Conqueor". This is like a R&B song that really just inspires me to stay strong. It lets me know that no matter what I go through I will come out better than when I went in. Her lyrics just tell me that even if no one has my back, even if life keeps knocking me down, and even if you tell me no I wont back down because I know that I can be something and I'll always work for it.

ReplyDeleteThe song I chose as an inspiration is "The Best In Me" by Marvin Sapp. The song is inspirational, because it talks about when people like family didn't really believe in you, and only saw the bad the things you did. On the other hand, though the song talks about God only seeing the positive, good things in you, not the negatives. This is a Gospel song, and because the lyrics say "he saw the best in me" is what motivates you to keep going.

I wouldn’t say that songs usually inspire me. If had to pick a song that would, I would choose “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly. This song is very inspirational because it tells you that you can do anything if you believe that you can do it. The genre of the song is R&B/soul. The lyrics are simple, yet strong because they are sung with great power. The song speaks to me because I know that I can do anything but it just justifies that I can.

The song that is inspirational to me is "Blackbird" by The Beatles sung by Paul McCartney. The song that consist of a strong strum of a guitar is beautifully written in a time dealing with civil war and about blacks fighting for the right to be free. Hinting the blackbird that is wanting to be free. Not only does this song relate to such a strong factor in my life having african American ties it is also just as strong without knowing its true meaning simply hearing "Blackbird singing in the day of night take your wings and learn to fly you were always waiting for your moment to be free". It speaks volumes of learning to be strong and gain confidence to be free of whatever is holding you. Let go of all that is hindering you and fly.

ReplyDeleteThe song I chose was "Something about the name Jesus" by Kirk Frankin. It is motivational to me because you can always call out on the name Jesus when you need guidance. This song came from the gospel/religious genre. Some of the musical elements that are played are the guitar, piano, drums and the voices in all. The words in the song are very inspirational because they can turn somebody frown upside down.

This weeks blogpost is supposed to be for songs that inspire you. I chose the song "Clean This House" by Issac Carree ft. R. Kelly (Remix). I find this song so inspiring because when they are saying clean this house they are really talking about themselves as in their bodies needing to be cleaned out from all their sins and toxins and what not. I love the original but knowing all R.Kelly has done and been through the remix spoke a lot more. The genre is gospel with a slight R&B twist. https://youtu.be/Mr7zJw525U8
ReplyDeleteThis week I chose " Beautiful " by Christina Aguilera. It is inspiring to me because she is talking about how you should love yourself. It's not about what people say about you. If you are comfortable in your own skin thats all you should worry about. This song can build up your confidence. The video gives you a visual of real life problems people go through so it tells a story.

To me an inspirational song is "Ceann Dubh Dilis" by Micheal McGlynn. The song is suppose to be an ancient poem that was turn into a song and used to represent Irish love. What makes the song amazing is the stoicism of the song which tells the story. The use of drums help support the hardy voice of the singers. It is also cultural to the Irish to let the singers tell the story without emotion. I truly love the song and think it can help invigorate other men and women to find their true love.

The inspirational song I have chosen is "The Battle Is Not Yours" by Yolanda Adams. It is a gospel song. I consider this song inspirational because it helps me to realize that in the negative things that happen in life that I can lean on the lord and he will bring me through. I realize that I don't have to worry or feel sorrow because its not my battle to fight. I found this song inspirational when I was going through a really rough period of my life. The lyrics in the song really express the inspiration most out of all the musical elements. The lyrics tell you exactly what the artist wants you to feel, that the battle is not your's. Which is the best when your looking for a feel-better song.

A song that inspires me is "competition" by new edition . It inspires me to try to get along with my peers and work with them and live in unity. Life is too short to fight with someone over a petty situation. The lyrics are very inspirational and it explains unity. As i grow i realize that situations are not as big as they seem.

One of the most inspiring songs to me is "Thy Will" by Hillary Scott. This a Christian/ Gospel song that inspires us to always trust in God's plan. One part of the song goes "I may never understand that my broken heart is a part of Your plan." This is very inspirational and powerful because it shows that although we WILL face hardships, it is all God's plan and He has a solution for us, we just have to trust in him. When I am dealing with a rough situation, I will turn this song on and carefully listen to the lyrics, and things seem so much easier because I know God has a plan for me. :)

A song that inspires me is "All that Matters to Me" by Justin Bieber. This song inspires me because it shows me that in relationships people should treat you like you're all that matters.I believe that some people mess up sometimes in relationships but if it was real and that person was REALLY all that matters , it wouldn't matter. The genre the song is in is Hip Hop even though it is a white artist. The beat of the song inspires me to listen to the lyrics which speak measures on the topic of being all that matters. As I mature , the song is inspiring me to understand that everybody wants to be all that matters to somebody. But, only that one person will truly show that you are all that matters.
