This is the final week before we leave for Thanksgiving. There have been a lot of movies that have come out and have soundtracks with some impressive songs selections. For this post, you need to pick your favorite song from your favorite movie (or one that you like) soundtrack. One song that comes to mind is from "Titanic"--"My Heart Will Go On" performed by Celine Dion. Discuss the song and include the lyrics to the song in the post. Tell what movie it comes from as well. Write a paragraph about why you like the song and include as many musical elements as possible. Also include a link to the video. All posts are due by Friday, November 18, 11:59 pm. No duplicate posts will be accepted.
I chose "Almost There" from Princess and the Frog because that's my favorite princess movie. It was hard to choose which movie soundtrack though because all of Disney's Princess' sountracks are lit. But Princess and the Frog got the soul movement that make you wanna dance and feel thier emotion. They make you want to be a part of the movie. More people , I feel like, can relate to most of the songs rather than the other Disney movies. And in the song I like the tension between the words and how she expresses them so dramatically. It makes my heart move when I hear this song.
ReplyDeleteLyrics :
Mama... I don't have time for dancing !
That's just gonna have to wait a while
Ain't got time for messing around
And it's not my style
This whole town can slow you down
People taking the easy way
But I know exactly where I'm going
And getting closer, closer, every day
And I'm almost there, I'm almost there
People down here think I'm crazy, but I don't care
Tribes and tribulations have had my share
There ain't nothing gonna stop me now cause I'm almost there
I remember Daddy told me : "Fairytales can come true
You gotta make 'em happen, it all depends on you"
So I work real hard each and every day
Now things for sure are going my way
Just doing what I do
Look out boys I'm coming through
And I'm almost there, I'm almost there
People gonna come here from everywhere
And I'm almost there, I'm almost there
There's been tribes and tribulations
You know I've had my share
But I've climbed the mountain, I've crossed the river
And I'm almost there, I'm almost there
I'm almost there !

My favorite movie of all time is "Love & Basketball". The song I chose from this movie is "I Want to Be Your Man" by Zapp & Roger. I chose this song because if you watched the movie and song played when both Quincy and Monica were at the dance dancing together. I love the beginning of the song how the chimes come in. Then when they start singing the beat comes in. Like this song and how the scenery of the movie correlates together perfectly. Then the symbols add that dramatic effect to the song. Here are the lyrics:
ReplyDeleteHey, lady, let me tell you why
I can't live my life without you (Oh, baby)
Every time I see you walkin' by, I get a thrill
You don't understand, but in time you will
I must make you understand
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (Yes, I do, baby)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
Better not pass me by
'Cause if you do you'll lose a good thing (Oh, baby)
'Cause what I've got to say
Is sealed with a kiss and a wedding ring (Wedding ring)
My mind is blind, at times I can't see anyone but you
Those other girls don't matter, no, they can't spoil my view
I must make you understand
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (Yes, I do, baby)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
Words can never say what I feel
It's too intense
I tried, I tired, I tried, I tried to tell you how I feel
But I get mixed up (So mixed up)
My mind is blind, at times I can't see anyone but you
Those other girls don't matter, no, they can't spoil my view
I must make you understand
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (Yes, I do, baby)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (Yes, I do)
I want to be your man
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)
I want to be your man (Yes, I do, baby)
I want to be your man (I want to be your man)

One of my many favorite movies is "Fault in Our Stars." I really enjoy this movie because it has a really sad but well written story line. I have also read the book written by John Green. My favorite song from the movie's soundtrack is All of the Stars by Ed Sheeran. The song alone without the movie makes me happy. The song reminds me of being at home with my family and friends. The melody of the song is amazing and the lyrics are even better.
ReplyDeleteHere are the lyrics:
It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
I saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside and knew
If you were here,
I'd sing to you
You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you
I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through lamp lit streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam
You're the song my heart is
Beating to
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home

The song I chose was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz sung by Judy Garland. I like this song because it expresses Dorothy's desire to escape her mediocre life and search for excitement. The track itself is very smooth and elegant with the different sounds presented. I listen to this song whenever I am feeling "trapped" with the trials and tribulations of this world and it helps me escape. The song presents the reader with a soft melody and sentimental lyrics.
ReplyDeleteLyrics:
"Over The Rainbow"
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh, why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow.
Why, oh, why can't I?

A song that I LOVE from one of my favorite movie soundtracks is "Fly Before You Fall", from the movie Beyond the Lights. This song is soo beautiful the vocal range of Cynthia really brings out the smooth melodies. It tells the story of a basically a friend who is trying to tell her best friend to hold her head up and be strong because she doesn't have to go through anything alone. She is telling her friend about how she is not alone in anything when she is well at hiding her feelings. She wants her to know that even though she might be scared that she should not be because she hears her cries and she will be there and will help her before she falls. It starts off with a nice cool piano playing and as Cynthia begins to sing the piano is still strong and it just makes you know that you are not alone even though she is not directly talking about you. I love it because it reminds me of my best friends and how they always tell me I'm never going through anything alone and they'll always be there. They, along with Cynthia, are reminding us (the person in the song) that we are here and not invisible.
ReplyDeleteLyrics:
I see the way that you look when you hear his name
I see his picture up in your frame
And you refuse to admit you still miss him but it's okay
You're a tower of strength when you're breaking down
But through the wall I can feel your cry
And when it's quiet you're screaming inside
And I break as I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on
I hear you
Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't you worry
I'll teach you to fly before you fall away
It's in the moments when you're left all on your own
And it hits you from out of nowhere
You try to hide it sometimes unsuccessfully
With a smile that fades quickly
Your resistance to sadness is futile but
You're a fighter, can't stand defeat
You're a magician at hiding the hurt from you
But I see and I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on
I hear you
Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't be scared
Don't be scared
Cause I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on, I hear you
Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't you worry
I'll teach you to fly before you fall

The song I chose for this week's blog post is "Blackbird". This song is from the movie Beyond the Lights. I like this song because it has such a deep meaning to it's words. When she is performing the song in the movie you can see and hear the emotion she is putting into the song which helps express the meaning of the lyrics. Since she is performing it acapella she crescendos at points to make it more entertaining. Although it may sound like a dark ,demeaning song it is actually a beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteLyrics: Why you wanna fly Blackbird you ain't ever gonna fly
No place big enough for holding all the tears you're gonna cry
Cause your mama's name was "Lonely" and your daddy's name was "Pain"
And they call you little sorrow cause you'll never love again
So why you wanna fly Blackbird you ain't ever gonna fly
You ain't got no one to hold you you ain't got no one to care
If you'd only understand dear nobody wants you anywhere
So why you wanna fly Blackbird you ain't ever gonna fly

My favorite song from my favorite movie is called " Suprise Yourself " by Jack Garrat from the movie " Me Before You" . The reason why i love this song because it's very upbeat , and its lyrics are very pleasing to listen to. In the song he's expressing that you should express , and surprise yourself . I really enjoy this song . It allows anyone to express there selves. It's very energetic and lifts your spirits when your down.
ReplyDeleteLyrics
Speak and open up your mind
It's something you should do all the time
Keep exploring, seek and find
You know you might surprise yourself
Talk without a taint or hold
The doubts that should embrace your heart
The calm and chaos of your soul
You know you might surprise yourself
Take a pen and write this down
Draw something that can't be found
And learn to walk again somehow
You know you might surprise yourself
Love her if you only knew
The times that train has fooled me too
And tears me from a place I know
It helps me to surprise myself
You know you can surprise yourself
So let go and surprise yourself

One of my favorite songs is "Colors of the Wind" from the movie Pocahontas. I like this song because Pocahontas is chastising Smith for his arrogance and ignorance, telling him that he doesn't understand the wonders of nature. The line "Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?" is where she makes the point that even though he stakes his claim to the Earth, he doesn't know how to nurture it. I also like this song because of how Pocahontas sings the melody to the song "Color of the Wind".
ReplyDeleteLyrics
You think I'm an ignorant savage,
and you've been so many places i guess it must be so .
but still i can not see , if the savage one is me .
How can there be so much that you dont know
You don't know ...
You think you own whatever land you land on ,
the earth is just a dead thing you can claim .
But i know every rock and tree and creature,
has a life has a spirit has a name .
You think the only people who are people ,
are the people who look and think like you ,
but if you walk the footsteps of a stranger ,
you'll learn things you never knew you never knew.
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon,
or ask the grinning bobcat why he grinned,
can you sing with all the voices of a mountain ,
can you paint with all the colors of the wind .
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind .
Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest ,
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the earth .
Come roll in all the riches all around you ,
and for once never wonder what their worth .
the rainstorm and the river are my brothers,
The heron and the otter are my friends ,
and we are all connected to each other,
in a circle in a hoop that never ends.
How high does a sycamore grow ,
if you cut it down then you'll never know ,
and you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon ,
for whether we are white or copper skinned ,
we need to sing with all the voices of a mountain ,
we need to paint with all the colours of the wind .
You can own the earth and still,
all you'll own is earth until you can paint ,
with all the colours of the wind..

One of my favorite songs is "Try Again" by Aaliyah from the movie "Romeo Must Die" and this song is from the soundtrack. The song basically explains that if you fail at something then you try again and don't give up. The movie is very action filled and the music video was very creative and so were the lyrics.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time (long time), we shouldn't of left you (left you),
Without a dope beat to step to (step to, step to, step to, step to).
It's been a long time (long time), we shouldn't of left you (left you),
Without a dope beat to step to (step to, step to, step to, step to).
What would you do, to get to me?
What would you say, to have your way?
Would you give it up or try again?
If I hesitate to let you in?
Now would you be yourself, or play a role?
Tell all the boys, or keep it low?
If I say no, would you turn away,
Or play me off or would you stay?
Oh
If at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again
You can dust it off and try again, try again
'Cause if at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again
You can dust it off and try again, dust yourself off and try again, try again
I'm into you, you into me? But I can't let it go, so easily.
Not 'till I see, where this could be, could be eternally, or just week.
You know our chemistry, it's off the chain.
It's perfect now, but will it change?
This ain't a yes, this ain't a no.
Just do your thang, and we'll see how it goes.
Ooooh
If at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again
You can dust it off and try again, try again
'Cause if at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again
You can dust it off and try again, dust yourself off and try again, try again
See you don't wanna throw it all away.
I might be shy on the first day,
But what about the next day? (huh, huh, huh, huh)
See you don't wanna throw it all away.
I might be buggin' on the first day,
But what about the next day? (huh, huh, huh, huh)
If at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again
You can dust it off and try again, try again
'Cause if at first you don't succeed (first you don't succeed),
Dust yourself off, and try again

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite movies is called "Radio". One of the songs
ReplyDeletein the movie that I like most of all is "Eyes Of the heart" by India Arie. I just adore the meaning of the song. Its message is something that I think people often don't do. I feel that if more people listened to the message of the song, which is to look at someone with love instead of judgement, then the world would be a much happier place. I love how serene the music is. It is so peaceful. The way the piano is being played seems to almost scream out to grab your attention. Also the flute is so lovely and soothing like a lullaby. It is a song the teaches a lot musically and morally.
Here are the lyrics:
Close your eyes
The physical
Can be so blind
In my eyes
The innocent can be so wise
It's not about black or white
This is wrong or right
Can you take a stranger
And treat him like your brother
Love don't start with the eyes
Starts with the heart
Look deep down inside
In all that you have a chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So make the choice to look with the eyes of your heart
Close your eyes
The light of love will lead the way
In the eyes of a child
We're all the same
If we're all God's children
The logic is so simple
The one you call stranger is really your brother
Love don't start with the eyes
Starts with the heart
Look deep down inside
In all that you have a chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So make the choice to look with the eyes of your heart
No I don't mean to preach
Some may say that it's unrealistic
Cause none of us is perfect
But the way that I say it
What do you just try to see with different eyes
Could you see that what is done to you is done to me?
We want humanity yeah
Oh, love don't start with the eyes
Starts with the heart
Look deep down inside
In all that you have a chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So make the choice to look with the eyes of
Love don't start with the eyes
Starts with the heart
Look deep down inside
You have the chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So take the chance
To make a choice, to make a change
So make the choice to look with the eyes of your heart

The song I picked was "Lyte as a rock". This song is by MC Lyte. It is from the Love & Basketball soundtrack. It sends a message of basically not settling for a label or stereotype people place on you, especially if you're a woman. In the movie, this song can be heard during one of Monica's basketball games.
ReplyDeleteI am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
Do you understand the metaphoric phrase 'Lyte as a Rock?'
It's explaining, how heavy the young lady is
You know what I'm saying King?
Yes my brother, but I would consider 'Lyte as a Rock'
a simile because of the usage of the word 'as'
And now directly from the planet of Brooklyn
MC Lyte as a Rock!
Must I say it again, I said it before
Move out the way when I'm comin through the door
Me, heavy? As Lyte as a Rock
Guys watch, even some of girls clock
Step back, it ain't that type of party
No reply if you ain't somebody
Get out my face, don't want to hear no more
If you hate rejection, don't try to score
First base? You ain't got what it takes
You smile, you wink, you big fake flake
You're so pathetic you make my stomach turn
You beg, you borrow, now you have to learn
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
Lyte as a Rock, or I should say a boulder
Rolling down your neck, pounding on your shoulders
Never shall I be an MC, called a wannabe
I am the Lyte, L-Y-T-E
This is the way it is, don't ever forget
Hear the rhyme by someone else and you know they bit
All in the way, just little obstacles
Chew 'em up, spit em out, just like popsicles
Suckers out of my way, we're not on the same wavelength
I show stability, potential and strength
On the other hand, you are weak and unruly
Could never be a spy, 'cause you're just a plain stoolie
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I'm a slave, I'm a slave, I'm a slave to the rhythm
Def rhymes on the microphone is what I'm givin
Yes I am a Rock and you are just a pebble
Milk turn up the base, and Rock adjust the levels
If a rap can paint a thousand words then I can paint a million
Wait, Lyte is capable of paintin a bazillion raps
So when I say it, this is what I mean
Audio Two an alliance on the scene
and I'd like to say whassup to my producer King of Chill
Party people are you ready, jam if you will
Never underestimate Lyte the MC
I am a rapper who is here to make the things the way they're meant to be
The World ultimate, I'm here to take the title
But I had a little trouble upon, my arrival
But I got rid of those who, tried to rock me
Lyte is here, no one can stop me
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
There are Hip-Hop leaders, this you know
We also have, hip-hoppers that follow
By the tone of my voice, you can tell I am a scholar
I'm also the leader of the hip-hop followers
Now get this, I'm at a jam and I'm rockin' it
Suckers like a checkerboard, when black is clockin' it
The grace as I ease across the stage
Bars around the audience, sort of like a cage
They laugh, 'cause they assume I'm in prison
But in reality, they're locked in
Once again I'll state that I can't be stopped
'Cause yo, I am as Lyte, as, Rock!
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E
I am the Lyte as a rock L-Y, L-Y-T-E

The Monkees' psychedelic fantasy bombed at the box office, and nobody on earth has ever figured out the plot. Yet it remains a trippy cult classic, with cameos from Frank Zappa and co-writer Jack Nicholson. The music soars from Mike Nesmith's hard-riffing "Circle Sky" to "As We Go Along," one of Carole King's loveliest ballads. Head begins and ends with the grandiose melancholy of "Porpoise Song," the kind of music that can make even Don Draper want to curl up on a couch and cry.
ReplyDeleteMy, my, the clock in the sky
Is pounding away
And there's so much to say
A face, a voice
An overdub has no choice
An image cannot rejoice
Wanting to be
To hear and to see
Crying to the sky
But the porpoise is laughing
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Clicks, clacks, riding the backs of giraffes for laughs
S'alright for a while
sings of castles
And kings and things that go
With a life of style
Wanting to feel
To know what is real
Living is a, is a lie
The porpoise is waiting
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

The song that I chose is "I will always love you." This song was originally written and recorded by Dolly Parton, in 1973. Whitney Houston recorded a cover version of the son in 1992 for the movie she played in called "The Bodyguard." When she starts to sing this song she starts off nice and smooth, but as the song goes on you start to here Whitney's powerful voice. Even though its not her original song she still sings it with so much passion.
ReplyDeleteIf I should stay, I'll only be in your way
So I'll go, but I know I'll
Think of you every step of the way
And I will always love you
I will always love you
You, my darling you, hmmm,
Bittersweet memories
That is all I'm taking with me
So, goodbye
Please, don't cry
We both know I'm not what you, you need
And I will always love you
I will always love you
I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish to you, joy and happiness
But above all this, I wish you love
And I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I will always love you
I, I will always love you
You, darling, I love you
Oh, I'll always, I'll always love you

ReplyDeleteThe song that i chose as my favorite is “See You Again” by Charlie Puth. The song is played in the movie Furious 7. I like the song because it has a lot of meaning behind of it, and it touches a special place in my heart. Especially when my grandmother died this song was a form of comfort for me. I listen to “See You Again” often it is and will always be one of my favorites.
Lyrics
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Dang, who knew?
All the planes we flew
Good things we've been through
That I'll be standing right here talking to you
'Bout another path
I know we loved to hit the road and laugh
But something told me that it wouldn't last
Had to switch up
Look at things different, see the bigger picture
Those were the days
Hard work forever pays
Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place)
Uh
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
(Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Yeah
First you both go out your way
And the vibe is feeling strong
And what's small turn to a friendship
A friendship turn to a bond
And that bond will never be broken
The love will never get lost
And when brotherhood come first
Then the line will never be crossed
Established it on our own
When that line had to be drawn
And that line is what we reach
So remember me when I'm gone
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride
So let the light guide your way, yeah
Hold every memory as you go
And every road you take, will always lead you home, home
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Yeah
When I see you again
See you again
When I see you again
Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Yeah
When I see you again
The song that I have chose was "Home" by Diana Ross. This song was played in the movie "The Wiz". I like this song because it has a lot of feelings in involved. She talking about how she feels about her home. The reason is because in the movie she is away from home from a period of time. So she started thinking about all the things she missed. Plus she felt the love from her family at home. Basically the song just captures your feelings. About a place that holds comfort, love, and understanding
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of home
I think of a place where there's love overflowing
I wish I was home
I wish I was back there with the things I been knowing
Wind that makes the tall grass bend into leaning
Suddenly the raindrops that fall have a meaning
Sprinklin' the scene, makes it all clean
Maybe there's a chance for me to go back there
Now that I have some direction
It would sure be nice to be back home
Where there's love and affection
And just maybe I can convince time to slow up
Giving me enough time in my life to grow up
Time be my friend, let me start again
Suddenly my world has changed it's face
But I still know where I'm going
I have had my mind spun around in space
And yet I've watched it growing
If you're list'ning God
Please don't make it hard to know
If we should believe in the things that we see
Tell us, should we run away
Should we try and stay
Or would it be better just to let things be?
Living here, in this brand new world
Might be a fantasy
But it taught me to love
So it's real, real to me
And I've learned
That we must look inside our hearts
To find a world full of love

The song I chose is "Towards the Sun" by Rihanna from the movie "Home". This has to be one of my favorite movies ever and I feel that the song fit perfectly. This song would be considered one with a mid-tempo and R&B pop feel. It's lyrics are very positive and optimistic. I also feel that Rihanna isn't just singing the lyrics, but telling a story. Her story. In my interpretation, the words in the song are warning you to never get so attached to the temporary things or ,in return, the consequences (shadows) of your actions and choices may hunt you and chase you farther away from where it is that your meant to be(home). So send a prayer to the one above,in my case God, and carry on. "Towards the Sun" and "Home" will forever be two of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteRihanna/Chorus
Turn your face towards the sun
Let the shadows fall behind you
Tell a prayer
Just carry on
And the shadows will never find you
Lost in the rock and roll
Got lost in a promise of love I never know
Shadows chase me far from home
I remember when my heart was filled with gold
Bridge
And you know I've been burned
I've been burned
I've been burned
You see me lose control
It's not worth
It's not worth
It's not worth
Chorus
Turn your face
Towards the sun
Let the shadows fall behind you
Tell a prayer
Just carry on
And the shadows will never find you

One of my favorite songs is "Listen" by Beyonce. This song is from the movie Dream Girls. I love this song because it explains that people will listen to her and not just over look her. This song is a good song for confidence. This songs also explains progress with yourself.
ReplyDeleteListen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can't complete
Listen, to the sound from deep within
It's only beginning
To find release
Oh, the time has come
For my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen
[Chorus:]
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home, in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
You should have listened
There is someone here inside
Someone I'd thought had died
So long ago
Oh, I'm screaming out, and my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside or worse
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen
[Chorus:]
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home, in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
I don't know where I belong
But I'll be moving on
If you don't
If you won't
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start
But I will complete
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you've made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own

I chose “A change is going to come” by Sam Cooke. The soundtrack is on the movie “Daddy's little Girl”. The song became the anthem for the civil rights movement. The scene of the movie with the song was very sad when the father went to go get his girls and crashed to their mother's boyfriend car then got out and beat the man up. You could hear the brass and wind instruments family in the background. The lyrics of the song itself shows some kind of struggle that the person was going through.

I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time

One of my favorite moives is "Madea's Family Reunion" my favorite song would have to be Tonight by Kem. Kem has such a smooth tone of voice and for some reason his music grabs my attention. He is also one of my favorite artist. This song has a jazzy feel and just automatically makes me start snapping my fingers.this song describes that everyone needs love and another person to share their love withand everyone has heartbreaks. Kem describes that he needs that love on this specific night.
ReplyDeleteEvery life needs another life
And every heart, another
And yours, just might, need mine? Tonight
Every day is a new day
And every hour is ours to share
And every heart needs another heart
And yours just might need mine tonight?baby, baby
Yours might need mine, tonight, baby.
Every one has heartache
And everyone gets lonely
And every love needs another love
And yours just might need mine tonight?
Yours just might need mine tonight, ohhhh
Everyone needs someone to talk to
Everyone needs, needs someone to love
Everyone life needs another life
And yours just might need mine tonight?.

I love the song "Dig It" by the D-TENT boys. The song is the feature track of the Disney Channel original movie “Holes”. The song describes how young men going through punishment for past wrong-doings must dig holes. The catchy tune and up-beat tempo are great. I love this song so much because it reminds me of what I used to listen to in middle school. This song, and movie, were (and still are) my favorites. It might seem a little childish, but I love this song. I know every single lyric.

[Zig-Zag]
You've got to go and dig those holes,
with broken hands and whithered soles,
emancipated from all you know,
you've got to go and dig those holes
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh
[Caveman]
With two suits, two tokens in hand,
I got no respect cuz I'm the new man,
got my shovel,
shoes full of sand,
check out the tag, the name is Caveman
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh,(yeah)
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh (yeah)
[X-Ray]
Take a bad boy and make him dig 5 feet,
the dirt in these shovels will give us a beat,
okay, you've gotta find somethin' never found before,
if not, we'll just have to dig some more
[All]
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na,
na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh,(yeah)
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh (yeah)
[Zero (All)]
Your hands may blister,
your muscles stay sore,(Oh yeah)
you wanna break?
knock on the wardens door (Oh yeah)
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh,(yeah)
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh (yeah)
[A-R-M-P-I-T]
What is that you smellin dog thats me
I don't take showers and I don't brush my teeth
cuz all I do is dig holes eat and sleep
[X-RAY]
There is no lake,
There is no shade,
There is no place to hide
So just sit and wait to fry
[Zig-Zag]
You've got to go and dig those holes,
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh,(yeah)
Dig it uh oh oh,
Dig it
Dig it uh oh oh (yeah)
[Zero]
Wake up in the morning before the sun
Keep digging that hole till day is gone
[Repeat twice]
[All]
Dig it uh oh oh, yeah
Dig it uh oh oh, yeah
Dig it uh oh oh, yeah
Dig it uh oh oh, yeah

DeleteMy favorite movie soundtrack is Sucker For Pain by Lil Wayne, Eiz Kalifa, Imagine Dragon, Logic & Ty Dolla $ign featuring the X Ambassadors. The song is from the movie Suicide Squad and is amazing . It emotes how the villians in the movie feel.It also a is a great fusion of pop and hip-hop. It is rare to see a good combination of these two.The synth really ties the music together especially during Wiz Kalifa and Lil Wayne parts. Heres the lyrics:
ReplyDelete"Sucker For Pain"
(with Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons)
(feat. Logic, Ty Dolla $ign & X Ambassadors)
[Dan Reynolds & Sam Harris:]
I torture you
Take my hand through the flames
I torture you
I'm a slave to your games
I'm just a sucker for pain
I wanna chain you up
I wanna tie you down
I'm just a sucker for pain
[Ty Dolla $ign:]
I'm a sucker for pain
I got the squad tatted on me from my neck to my ankles
Pressure from the man got us all in rebellion
We gon' go to war, yeah, without failure
Do it for the fam, dog, ten toes down, dog
Love and the loyalty that's what we stand for
Alienated by society, all this pressure give me anxiety
Walk slow through the fire
Like, who gon' try us?
Feeling the world go against us
So we put the world on our shoulders
[Dan Reynolds & Sam Harris:]
I torture you
Take my hand through the flames
I torture you
I'm a slave to your games
I'm just a sucker for pain
I wanna chain you up
I wanna tie you down
I'm just a sucker for pain
[Logic:]
I been at it with my homies
It don't matter, you don't know me
I been rollin' with my team, we the illest on the scene
I been riding 'round the city with my squad
I been riding 'round the city with my squad
We just posted, getting crazy, living like this is so amazing
Hold up take a step back, when we roll up, cause I know what
We been loyal, we been fam, we the ones you trust in
Won't hesitate to go straight to your head like a concussion
I know I been bustin', no discussion for my family
No hesitation, through my scope I see my enemy
Like what's up? Hold up, we finna re-load up
Yes I re-load up, I know what up, I know what up
[Dan Reynolds & Sam Harris:]
I torture you
Take my hand through the flames
I torture you
I'm a slave to your games
I'm just a sucker for pain
I wanna chain you up
I wanna tie you down
I'm just a sucker for pain
[Lil Wayne:]
I'm devoted to destruction
A full dosage of detrimental dysfunction
I'm dying slow but the devil tryna rush me
See I'm a fool for pain, I'm a dummy
Might cut my head off right after I slit my throat
Tongue kiss a shark, got jealous bitches up in the boat
Eating peanut butter and jelly fishes on toast
And if I get stung I get stoked, might choke
Like I chewed a chunk of charcoal
Naked in the North Pole
That's why my heart cold, full of sorrow, the lost soul
And only Lord knows when I'm coming to the crossroads
So I don't fear shit but tomorrow
And I'm a sucker for pain, it ain't nothing but pain
You just fuckin' complain, you ain't tough as you claim
Just stay up in your lane, just don't fuck with Lil Wayne
I'mma jump from a plane or stand in front of a train
Cause I'm a sucker for pain
[Wiz Khalifa:]
Used to doing bad, now we feel like we just now getting it
Ain't got no other way so we started and finished it
No pain, no gain
Never stand down, made our own way
Never going slow, we pick up the pace
This is what we wanted from a young age
No emotion, that's what business is
Lord have mercy on the witnesses
[Dan Reynolds & Sam Harris:]
I torture you
Take my hand through the flames
I torture you
I'm just a sucker for pain
[Sam Harris:]
More pain
Got me begging, begging, begging, begging, begging
For more pain
Got me begging, begging, begging, begging, begging
For more pain
Got me begging, begging, begging, begging, begging
For more pain
Got me begging...

The song I chose is "A Thousand Miles" from the movie "White Chicks. I chose this song because when it occurred in the movie it was the funniest think ever! This song is a piano ballad in a sense accompanied by violin and percussion. Might seem as though the sound could clash but it flows very well.
ReplyDeleteMaking my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home-bound
Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd
And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you tonight
It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder if you ever think of me
'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your precious memory
'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you tonight
And I, I
Don't want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don't want to let this go
I, I
Don't....
Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home-bound
Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd
And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder....
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass us by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you...
If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
If I could just hold you tonight

The song I have chosen and sincerely admire is "Somewhere" from the movie "West Side Story". The song was composed by Leonard Bernstein. Tony and Maria were played by Richard Beymer and Natalie Wood. Richard has a sweet, soft voice, while Natalie has a louder, more opera-like voice. She is also extremely skilled in hitting high notes. This song is just packed with emotion and passion. It brought me to tears to see how strong their love for each other was; to join them with their dream of leaving the place, and finding their promise land; a place where they could be free, together, and in love, without anyone telling them "no".
ReplyDeleteThere's a place for us,
Somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere.
There's a time for us,
Some day a time for us,
Time together with time to spare,
Time to learn, time to care,
Some day!
Somewhere.
We'll find a new way of living,
We'll find a way of forgiving
Somewhere . . .
There's a place for us,
A time and place for us.
Hold my hand and we're halfway there.
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow,
Some day,
Somewhere!

My favorite song "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran from the Hobbit Series, specifically "The Desolation of Smaug". The song contains various different instruments, which Sheehan himself recorded. The song is telling the story of a city being desolate by fire, because in the movie Smaug, a fire-breathing dragon burned the town to ashes.
ReplyDeleteOh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father oh
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father oh
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father oh
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
I see fire (oh you know I saw a city burning out) (fire)
And I see fire (feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side

The song I chose is "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. This song comes from the Hannah Montana movie. I like this song because it is encouraging. It is all about how you will struggle but you should always try again. I can relate to this on many levels because I make many mistakes, but I know I can not give up. Miley's voice sounds amazing and the vocal range of this song is GREATTT!
ReplyDeleteLyrics:
I can almost see it.
That dream I'm dreaming,
But there's a voice inside my head saying,
"You'll never reach it."
Every step I'm takin'
Every move I make feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin'
But I, I gotta keep tryin'
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down,
But no, I'm not breaking
I may not know it,
But these are the moments
That I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep goin',
And I, I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on,
'Cause...
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
Yeah
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Keep on movin'
Keep climbin'
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about—it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa, whoa, oh.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite songs from a movie is "Boom Clap" by Charli XCX. It is from the movie The Fault in Our Stars. It is a electropop ballad. The song is played during the most uplifting part in the movie, so I think it adds to the feel of the movie. It's a love song but not with a really cliche feel to it. The song is enthusiastic about wanting to fall in love, but has a little sadness in it also. The chorus and the verses have a nice contrast because the verses are sung softly, but the chorus has a lot of attitude.
Lyrics:
Boom boom boom clap
You're picture perfect blue
Sunbathing on the moon
Stars shining as your bones illuminate
First kiss just like a drug
Under your influence
You take me over you're the magic in my veins
This must be love
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
No silver or no gold
Could dress me up so good
You're the glitter in the darkness of my world
Just tell me what to do
I'll fall right into you
Going under cast a spell just say the word
I feel your love
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
You are the light and I will follow
You let me lose my shadow
You are the sun the glowing halo
And you keep burning me up with all of your love
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap

One of my favorite movie is High School Musical One ! They had a bunch of music on their sound track but the one with the most meaning to me and is my favorite, "We're All In This Together". This song means to me that it doesn't matter where or how you are at the end of the day we are all in it together. It takes a special group to recognize that statement. We all have to work together to get a better result. So basically after you figure who you are , you will realize that you still have to depend of someone and we all have a common goal. Plus this song is very catchy and easy to learn! The song actually makes me want to brake out into the dance that comes with the song.
ReplyDelete[Verse 1]
Together, together, together everyone
Together, together, come on let's have some fun
Together, were there for each other every time
Together, together come on lets do this right
Troy:
Here and now it's time for celebration
To finally figure it out
That all our dreams have no limitations
That's what it's all about
Gabi:
Everyone is special in their own way
We make each other strong
Were not the same
Were different in a good way
Together's where we belong
All:
We're all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We're all stars
And we see that
We're all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come true
Together, together, together everyone
Together, together, come on lets have some fun
Together, were there for each other every time
Together together come on lets do this right
Ryan:
We're all here
And speaking out in one voice
Were going to rock the house
The party's on now everybody make some noise
Come on scream and shout
Sharpay:
We've arrived because we stuck together
Champions one and all
All:
We're all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We're all stars
And we see that
We're all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come
We're all in this together
When we reach
We can fly
Go in sight
We can make it
We're all in this together
Once we see
There's a chance
That we have
And we take it
Wild cats sing along
You know really got it going on
Wild cats in the house
Everybody say it now
Wild cats everywhere
Wave your hands up in the air
That's the way we do it
Let's get to it
Time to show the world
We're all in this together
Once we know
That we are
We're all stars
And we see that
We're all in this together
And it shows
When we stand
Hand in hand
Make our dreams come
We're all in this together
When we reach
We can fly
Go in sight
We can make it
We're all in this together
Once we see
There's a chance
That we have
And we take it
Wild cats everywhere
Wave your hands up in the air
That's the way we do it
Let's get to it
Come on everyone

ReplyDeleteI chose "Father Can You Hear Me" from Diary of a Mad Black Woman. This song has a lot of meaning behind it. When everything goes wrong, sometimes your faith can slip. Just to know that the Lord is listening can ease your burden. This song is very powerful and has a smooth feel .When one listens to it, it can give a feeling of comfort and reassurance.

Father, Can You Hear Me"
(with Cheryl Pepsii Riley, Tamela J. Mann, Terrell Carter)
Father can you hear me
We need your love today
I know that you are listening
You hear me everyday
Father please hear us
And we will be OK
Father we need you to heal families today
Father can you hear me
I'm calling on your name
Not Buddha nor Muhammad
But it's Jesus we cry out loud
Father just forgive us
Hear us when we say
We'll give ya, give ya, give you everything our lives and souls today
Father you know we need it
I've never seen so much pain
We have the faith for now
Your victory we will gain
Father you know we mean it
There's no more heart of stone
We are ready for your power
Now the sin is gone
[Lead:] Father
[Choir:] Can you hear me now
[Repeat 4x]
[Choir:] He will say
[Lead:] He will say yes
[Choir:] yes, yes, yes, yes
[Lead:] say yes lord
[Choir:] yes, yes
[Lead:] yes to your will Jesus, yes to your will
[Choir:] yes, yes
[Lead:] come on say yes
[Choir:] yes, yes, yes, yes
[Lead:] say yes
[Choir:] yes, yes
[Lead:] come on raise your hand and say yes
[Choir:] yes, yes
Ooh Lord can you heal even me lord
See I'm coming to you lord
Just as I am
I'm in need of the blood of the lamb
Oh my oh my soul say yes
Ooh can you heal even me lord
I know i can't do this by myself
I surrender, oh yes
Do you believe? Somebody say,
Somebody ought to stand up and say yea.
Lift your hands and say,
Oh yea yea Yea!
Lift your hand oh ye gates.
Let the King of Glory still come in.
Somebody tell me who he is.
The King of Glory.
The Lord of God.
Strong and Mighty.
Do you know Jesus?
Somebody ought to
Stand up and say yea, oh yeah.
Somebody say yes.
[Choir continues with "yes,yes"]
My favorite soundtrack is from Les Miserables the movie. My favorite song is On my Own by Samantha Barks. The song is originally by the first cast but in the newest movie she did a cover and i loved it. Les Miserables is one of my favorite musicals as well as just movies. The storyline is amazing and the songs all tie in so well. There is so much emotion in the song. It really speaks to me at the end when she starts talking in the rain.
ReplyDeleteOn my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone
I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me
In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever
And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us
I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers
I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known
I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own

One of my most favorite songs would have to be "Love of my Life" by Erykah Badu, featured by Common. This song played in one of my favorite movies called "Brown Sugar." In this song Erykah sings so softly and her words are so moving. This song obviously talks about love and that's basically what the movie is based off of. Even though they were with different people in the beginning the found their way to each other in the end.

Bring it over here and let's go back
Way back
Ooh...
Way back, yeah
I met him when I was a
Little girl, he gave me
He gave me poetry
And he was my first
But in my heart I knew I
Wasn't the only one
'Cause when the tables turned
He had to break up
Whenever I got lonely
Or needed some advice
He gave me his shoulder
His words were very nice
But that is all behind me
'Cause now there is no other
My love is his and his is mine
A friend became the
Love of my life
You are my friend
Love of my life
I can depend
Love of my life
Without you, baby
It feels like a simple true love
Hope this s*** ain't clear
A freak-freak, y'all, and ya don't stop
To the beat y'all and ya don't stop
A freak-freak
Or could it be that it was
All just so simple then
A teenage lover who said
He's just a friend
He moved around and we kept
In touch through his friend Mike
The world was young and he knew
We couldn't rush but
Whenever I got lonely
Or needed some advice
He gave me his shoulder
His words were very nice
But that is all behind me
'Cause now there is no other
My love is his and his is mine
A friend became the
Love of my life
You are my friend
Love of my life
A dude I can depend, yeah, yeah
Love of my life
Feels like a simple true love, yeah
Hope this s*** ain't clear
Y'all know how I met her
We broke up and got back together
To get her back I had to sweat her
Thought she roll with bad boys forever in many ways
Them boys may be better, to I had to let her (Never)
She needed cheddar and I understood that
Lookin' for cheese, that don't make her a hood rat (Rat)
In fact she's a queen to me, her light beams on me
I love it when she sings to me
It's like that now
Love of my life
Ooh, you know you rock my world and
Love of my life
You be boy and I'll be girl and
Love of my life
We don't stop until the break of dawn, ooh...
Love of my life
Ooh, you know you rock my world and
Love of my life
You be boy and I'll be girl and
Love of my life
Yeah...

My song of choice is "Not About Angels" by Birdy from "The Fault In Our Stars" soundtrack. It is beautiful song played on C and F on the piano accompanied by Birdy's angelic voice. It's hard not be attached to this song as Birdy sings you a romantic yet sad tale of love, hurt, and fight. It's hard not to cry, by watching the movie and hearing a gorgeous song that your heart it makes the meaning so much greater.
ReplyDeleteWe know full well there's just time
So is it wrong to toss this line
If your heart was full of love
Could you give it up?
'Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go make us special
Don't give me up
Don't give...
Me up
How unfair, it's just our love
Found something real that's out of touch
But if you'd searched the whole wide world
[Lyrics from: https://lyrics.az/soundtracks/the-fault-in-our-stars/not-about-angels-birdy.html]
Would you dare to let it go?
'Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go make us special
Don't give me up
Don't give...
Me up
'Cause what about, what about angels?
They will come, they will go make us special
It's not about not about angels, angels

I chose "Missing you" from the movie soundtrack "Set it off." This song was chosen to set the mood of the tragedy. I like this song because it speaks to volume, and it was dedicated to beloved ones. Anyone who has lost someone, in particularly a sister, can refer back to this song if seeking closure or remembrance.
ReplyDeleteMissing You
1-Though I'm missing you
(Although I'm missing you)
I'll find a way to get through
(I'll find a way to get through)
Living without you
'Cause you were my sister, my strength, and my pride
Only God may know why, still I will get by
I would've known, that you had to go
But so suddenly, so bad
How could it be, not a straight memory worthy of
All that we had made
Now that you're gone, every day I go on (I go on)
But life's just not the same (life's just not the same)
I'm so empty inside, and my tears I can't hide
But I'll try, I'll try to face the pain
(repeat 1)
Oh, there was so many things
That we could have shared, uh-huh
And time was on our side (time was on our side)
Ooh, yeah
Now that you're gone, I can still feel you near
So I'll smile, with every tear I cry
(rpt 1)
How sweet, were the losses to spare?
But I'll wait for the day
When I'll see you again, see you again, yeah
(rpt 1)
I'm missing you
One of my favorite movies is the Breakfast Club. The very last scene we see one of the main character walk away with his fist in the air after he gets the girl. The song playing is called "Don't You" by Simple Minds. I really love how this songs ties the whole movie together because the chanter have never met before and throughout the movie we see hoe these unlike people become friends in dentation. The song main chorus continues to tell the listener to not forget about them. I love the slow jazzy pop vibe of the song. It puts me into a good 80s feel good type of feeling.
ReplyDeleteDon't You (Forget About Me)
ReplyDeleteSimple Minds
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh woh
Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't you, forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you, forget about me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh woh
Don't you try and pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security
Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby
Don't you, forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you, forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say
(Lala la la lala la la)
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of my favorite movie, I think of "Little Rascals." This movie was released five years before I was born, in 1994. I still watch this movie still to this day, from the first time I watched it as a child. The song that I think of, which everyone probably knows because of Darla, is "You are so beautiful to me," by Joe Cocker. Everytime I watch this movie, I sing the song, and will sing it for weeks upon weeks, even after! The song has a very capturing swing feel, that draws you in to listen to Joe.

Here's the lyrics.
You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hope for
You're everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hope for
You're every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me

One of my favorite movies is footloose and i love the song " lets hear it for the boy " by deniece williams it has a funky beat and catchy tune. its also symbolic to the new boy in town.
ReplyDeleteMy baby he don't talk sweet
he aint got much to say
but he loves me loves me loves me
i know that he loves me anyway
and maybe he don't dress fine
but i don't really mind

Lets hear it for the boy
Lets give the boy a hand
