Vocal Impersonations...That Are Good!

Watch the following videos and write a response about two of them. Are the impersonations precise or not? If you are unfamiliar with the songs or artists, search for them on YouTube and decide if the artists' impersonations were accurate. Your responses should be a paragraph for each video (so 2 paragraphs). This post is longer because of there being two videos. All posts are due by Friday, October 28, 2016.

  1. The first video I am commenting on is the first video (Jamie Foxx). He did a good job impersonating John Legend. For example, John Legend has a distinct way of singing (accent). When he impersonated Jennifer Hudson, he mimicked her actions very well. For example, she uses her hands alot when she is performing. He also did good by matching her actions from "Dreamgirls".

My next video is video 3 (Demi Lovato). Her impersonation of Fetty Wap was hilarious! I liked when she said "squaaad" at the beginning like Fetty. I also liked how she made sure to make the ending of the words sound like him. I enjoyed her mimicking Christina Aguilera. She made sure to make her voice sound rough in some areas but also hit high notes and be EXTRA like Christina would do.

  2. The first video I'm commenting on is the Jamie Foxx impersonation video. I think that Jamie had very very accurate impersonations in this video. Especially with john legend's voice. I was also very surprised at how much he sounded like Jennifer Hudson while singing a parody of "dream girls". I feel that if Jamie hadn't have pursued acting as his career, he would've been a great impersonator.

My next video is the one with Ariana Grande. First of all, she is an exceptional singer. Her impression of Celine Dion was so spot on, I would've thought it was actually Celine. I think that Ariana did more of her own style of singing when she did Christina Aguilera, but it still sounded great none the less. I guess it's safe to say that Ariana can pursue both careers and end up being successful.

  3. I selected the first video with Jamie Fox, and I must say that I am glad that I did. This video was hilarious and his acting skills were well reflected. He impersonated Jennifer Hudson the best in my opinion because he acquately made note to use the edginess she has in her voice, and her body language. Elaborating on that note, when Jennifer Hudson performs, she moves her body along with her hands depending on the note she is singing.

I also viewed Demi Lovato's video, and her impersonations were also precise. My favorite was when she impersonated Christina Aguilera. Christina's singing voice is very distinct and she is often noticed for her ability to hold notes, and her strong and nimble voice. Lovato's impersonation was very similar if not exactly like how Aguilera sings. I also enjoyed her trying to impersonate the rapper, Fetty Wap and his unsteady, silly-like voice. I found these two videos entertaining and humorous to watch, although their overall purpose is to entertain, the goal of the game was met. Which was to adquately impersonate the artist and the song or jingle that was randomly selected.

  4. The first video that I am commenting on is Jamie Fox video. This video was the best to me, and it was also the most hilarious one. The best impression that Jamie Fox did was Jennifer Hudson because he did all the hand motions she does to express the lyrics in her music. Also, another good impression that Jamie Fox did was when he did the impression of John Legend. I like that one because he slurred his words like John Legend does.

The second video I commented on was with Ariana Grande. I liked the impersonation she did of Christina Aguilera because Ariana Grande made the notes sound over exaggerated, and strong just like Christina Aguilera would. Even though, to me Christina Aguleria and Ariana Grande sound exactly the same to me. Also, I liked when she impersonated Celine Dion. That performance was really goood because Ariana sounded just like her.

  5. The first video with Jamie Fox was very entertaining. The way he got out of his seat and performed made it even more entertaining. I liked how he did the John Legend impression because he sounded just like him. If you weren't watching the screen your mind would immediately go to John Legend. He manage to embody Jennifer Hudson and do her hand motions and sing those high notes that she does so well.

The third video with Demi Lovato, my favorite out of the three, was also super entertaining. I personally feel as though they both did great jobs imitating the singers given to them. Every person Demi did she made her voice sound like theirs. She made it raspy or strong or however it need to be to portray that particular singer. This showed that she is also so a talented singer.

  6. I've seen these videos so many times on Twitter, and everytime I watch again because they're amazing. Ariana Grande's performance was awesome. Her impersonation of Britney Spears was so funny because she really sings like that. She did it exactly like Britney. She was okay with her Christina Aguilera impersonation because she just sounded like herself. Her voice wasn't as powerful as Christina's usually is. It was still good, though.

Demi Lovato's video was the next one I watched. I cannot help but have a biased opinion because I am a huge fan but it was the best out of the three. Her impersonation of Cher and Fetty Wap was spot on because she really sounded like them especially Cher. When she did Christina Aguilera, it blew me away. All the runs and held out notes are exactly things she would do, so she did an amazing job of that. This really showed her talent and her vocal range very well.

  7. The first Video I am commenting on is Jamie foxx's. His impression of John Legend hit the spot. John Legend has a voice thats really hard to mimic but Jamie Foxx did an exceptional Job Describing The way he sings also in the mix of him singing he Kept the game funny and interesting. I also Liked his Impression of Mack Jagger Because thats the exact way he sings and he's so full of life while he sings.

My second Video is Ariana Grande. #1 I absolutely adore her voice. I feel as if she already has a strong voice. But I knew when she started to sing Christina Aguilera she was about blow because her voice is VERY VERY similar to Christina's. She also Overexaggerrated her talent like Christina Does while she's singing.Which is something similar that Both Ariana and Christina do. By doing that Ariana showed her exceptional singing rang.

  8. The first video I am writing about is Jamie Foxx's. His impressions were really good. The one impression that he did for John Legend was spot on. I could hardly tell the difference. I also enjoyed his impression of Mick Jagger, though it was not as good as John Legend.

The second video I am commenting on is the one with Demi Lovato. Demi alone is an amazing singer, so of course her impressions of other people are gonna be perfect. The best one she did was Christina Aguilera because as she begun, I actually thought it was Christina singing. Demi hit all the runs perfectly, just like Christina. Christina would have been proud.

  9. The first video I am commenting on is the Ariana Grande video. Because I have watched all of these videos before and I have also watched videos of Ariana doing impresssions. I also have heard the voices of the singers that they are impersonating. And while Ariana's voice sound basically like the artist, Jimmy's voice it was good but you could tell he's no singer. Ariana especially took the time to demonstrate even the small things that the artist did. The whole thing was really good.

My second video that I will be commenting on is the one with the actress turned singer Demi Lovato. I have also seen this video and ounce again I believe that the impressions were spot on. Especially when Demi sung the song as Fetty Wap and Christina both of those people are hard to impersonate so she really showed her skills. It takes a strong voice to do. The same with Ariana and how powerful their voices are it takes strong voices to do artist such as Cher and Christina and they proved that they had what it takes.

  10. The first video which is the Jamie Foxx video was very entertaining to watch. His John Legend impressions were on point and it was hilarious to see him impersonating his facial expressions. Also, how he walks off the stage. His Jennifer Hudson impression was on point because Jennifer Hudson knows how to take people to church with any songs she sings.I don't know Mick Jagger all that well so I don't know for real, but other than that the other impressions were entertaining.

The second video is the Ariana Grande and it was really captivating. On her Britney Spears impression, she sounded so much like her because Britney Spears be singing from her nasal all the time and the impression was on point. The Christina Aguilera impression was really good because when you hear Christina singing any of her songs, you will feel power in her voice. Lastly, the Celine Dion impression was cute, it wasn't a problem for real, I enjoyed it a lot.

  11. The first video I am commenting about is Jamie Foxx. His impression was hilarious. I think he impersonated Jenifer Hudson really well. I noticed that he did things she does all the time like her hand gestures. His expressions really had me laughing. When he impersonated John Legend it was really really good. If had had to listen with my eyes closed I would have really thought I was listening to John Legend.

When Demi Lovata impersonated Fetty Wap it really showed her skills as a singer. Fetty Wap is not easy to impersonate just because of his accent and the way he rap/sings. Her best impersonation was Christina Aguilera. Just like listening to Jamie Foxx impersonating John Legend if I listened with my eyes closed I would have thought I was really listening to Christina. Demi herself is a very powerful so I wasn't surprised at what a wonderful job she did.

  12. The first video I am commenting about is Ariana Grande. Her impressions were through the roof when it came to accuracy. Of course they choose the ones they can do behind the scenes but hers were amazing. The Celine Dion impression was spot on and made me die of laughter.

The next video is Demi Lovato's impressions. Her impressions weren't quite as good as Jamie Foxx's or Ariana's but that's only because of her unique voice. Her Christina Aguilera impression was the best of them all.

  13. The first video that I watched was of Jamie Fox’s impressions. Jamie, an actor, did better with his facial expressions. His facial impressions were better than his musical ones. He did very good with his impression of Mick Jagger. This video was enjoyable.

The second video that I watched was of Ariana’s impressions. Ariana nailed everything. Her facial and vocal impressions were spot on. I loved her impression of Christiana Aguilera. Although her impressions were just jokes, she pulled them off very well.

  14. The first video I watched was of Jamie Foxx. I'm not really a big fan of vocal impressions, but the expressions he gave were actually really nice. I think that maybe he could've taken it more seriously, but it is a comedy talk show,so I guess that really doesn't matter. Other than that, I think the acting paid off.

The second video I watched was of Ariana Grande. It kind of looked like she was making fun of some of the people she did impressions of, but she seemed to be having fun. Her impression of Celine Dion was really good. It was probably my favorite thing she did.

  15. In the first video Jamie Fox's impersonations were really good. They weren't bad but he could have done more. I also like how he used his face and actions to show the person he was impersonating. It was a great video to watch.

Ariana, impersonations were spot on. Especially the one for Christiana Aguilera. She really did her justice with her impersonations. Her impersonations for the other two were good as well but the Christiana Aguilera one really stuck out.

  16. The video I am selecting is Video 1 with Jamie Foxx. His voice impression for John Legend was very precise and hilarious. Jamie sung it just like if John had to sing it with every accent. I also loved the way he sung an impression of Jennifer Hudson. I was amazed when he sung the high notes just like she would.

The next video that I'm selecting is Video 3. Demi Lovato perfectly executed Fetty Wap “twinkle little star”. I like how she sung it the same way he sings his song “come my way”. I also like when she sung an impression of Christina Aguilera. She was doing all the extra stuff like Christina would do. I like that she sung it strong like Christina would too.

  17. Arianna Grande
I really enjoyed watching Arianna Grande impressions because they were real precise. I am really familiar with the people she impersonated and I have watched a couple of their performances before. Her Christiana Aguilera and Celine Dion  performance were spot on. It surprised  me on how close she sounded making me wonder did she use them as influences in her own music.

    Demi Lovato
The other video I chose was Demi Lovato because who does not like a good Christian Aguilera. Her Cher impersonation was also spot on and for the little song I have heard from Cher it sounded just like her. Maybe favorite impersonation was the Fertty Wap "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star " it was so funny to hear a pop singer impersonate a rap star.

  18. Jamie Foxx
I loved Jamie's singing of On Top of Spaghetti by Jennifer Hudson. He nailed the vocals for her, he had the intensity on point and everything. He added to the singing by getting up and showing the emotion while he sang the song. He also did one for John Legend where he performed well on his vocals. As a singer he proved that he can transform his voice very well.

    Demi Lovato
I loved Demi's impression of Christiana Aguilera. She sang SpongeBob Squarepants just like her, even though I know she was playing. Especially all those runs she hit on "sea". I also enjoyed her Fetty Warp, it was hilarious. She transforms very well as a singer as well.

  19. The first video I chose was Jamie Foxx. He did good impersonating John Legend with the tension in his voice. He hit John on spot. Jennifer Hudson was good for the most part. He just forgot that she always screaming. He really didn't hit that on spot. Mick Jagger was not on it though. He probably didn't know how Jagger sounded. But he put up a good try.

The second video I watched was Demi Lovato because that's all I saw in the comments. When it first came on she impressed me with Cher. She hit Cher voice to a "t". Then when she did Fetty Wap she killed me. When Demi said "squaa" it was over. And then she did Christina Aguilera so good with the volume and the runs. #showedupandshowedout #roundofapplaud #goneheaddemi

  20. The first video i would like to comment on is the one with Arianna Grande. She honestly sounded just like Brittney Spears on the first impersonation. On her second impersonation of Christina Aguilera, she did the same mouth movements some pitch and etc. I looked up Christina performing and they almost sounded just alike. My favorite impersonation was when she did Celine Dion. To me she honestly can do her the best because she has the same country accent and everything.

The second video I will be commenting on is the third one with Demi Lovato. In my opinion she killed the Fetty Wap “ Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. She had his voice and the way he dragged his words. She could've did better on the Christina Augilera impression. She made it more Demi than Christina. Overall majority of the impressions were good.

The impersonations that Jamie Foxx performed were so astonishing! I enjoyed every single interpretation he did, like the one of Mick Jagger and John Legend. Every single one was precise. I laughed many times while watching him imitate the different genres of artists and songs. Watching well known/famous people do things like this proves that they are truly good people, when they can handle the pressures of being famous and still be a good samaritan. Jamie is such a fantastic singer, my mother and I always listen to his songs even though some of them are old .
Ariana Grande was a great impressionist. One of my favorite impressions she did was the wheels on the bus. She has a great “clear” and “strong” voice, which is one of the things i like about her, this allows her to “copycat” and “mimic” others way of singing. I wouldn’t have mind being there in person to watch this. Ariana is just a talented young woman that has a big future in the music business. I watched the video over and over and over again, it was very entertaining and full of laughter. Overall, the impersonations were perfect and on point.

  22. The first video I am commenting about is Video 1 with Jamie Foxx. His voice impression of Mick Jagger was very funny and entertaining but it wasn't as good as his impression of John Legend. If I didn't already know it was him, I would've thought it was actually John Legend. Also, I liked how he did the impression of Jennifer Hudson. It was very good and I was surprised when he started singing those high notes.

The next video I am commenting on is Video 3 with Demi Lovato. Her impressions weren't as good as Jamie Foxx and Ariana Grande's but they were good. Her voice impression of Fetty Wap surprised me a little because I know how hard it is to impersonate Fetty Wap because of his unique voice but she pulled it off well. She also did an amazing job impersonating Christina Aguilera.

I always see these videos when I'm on social media, but I've never stopped and watched them. I thought they would be boring and the impersonations wouldn't be on point. Video 1 with Jamie Foxx was excellent. Jamie Foxx did an amazing job on his impersonations. They were precise and funny at the same time. My favorite one that he did was of Jennifer Hudson. He was very accurate with how she sings and uses gestures. I also liked how he impersonated Mick Jagger. He sounded very similar to him and it was funny how he imitated Mick’s dance moves.
Video 2 was also very precise. I’ve heard Ariana Grande do impersonations before, but not of these artists. When she first did the Britney Spears impersonation I knew it was going to be a good video. I loved the one she did of Christina Aguilera. She captured her very distinct way of singing. I also liked the one she did of Celine Dion. I’ve heard Celine’s songs and I feel like Ariana did an amazing job. I enjoyed the entire video. I watched the video at least 12 times. That might be an exaggeration, but the video was overall amazing.

  24. I will first comment on Jamie Foxx's impersonations. Foxx does a good job impersonaring Mick Jagger and John Legend. The Jagger impersonation was okay, Jamie just needs to control his falsetto. His legend impersonation was great he sounded almost somewhat like him. His Jennifer Hudson was funny not really to good but he was entertaining.

Arianna Grande sounded amazing as always but didn't impersonate well. The only credit I could give was her singing Celine Dion. She had the depth in her voice that helped produce the tones of Dion. Yet her attempt at Christina and Spears were just her sing much less impersonating. Arianna's voice is great but she should attempt to change her voice if she ever tries impersonating again.

  25. I actually like to watch the Jimmy Fallon show so I have seen these segments before and I love them. The fist video I chose was Jamie Foxx. I love him as an actor and singer. His impressions to me were spot on. He had me entertained all the way because it was funny but still sounded amazing. His John Legend and Jennifer Hudson were so cool cause his had all the same little things to him that those performers really have.

My second video is Demi Lovato. I loved her on Disney and her music is really good. Her impressions were funny but really strong. Her Fetty impression was so good she even got his little sayings and adlibs. Her Christina was decent to but it just sounded like Demi to me. Overall I loved the videos.

  26. The first video I am writing about is the video of Jamie Foxx. His whole performance was very entertaining. My favorite impression he did was of John Legend because he sounded just like him. I also liked his impression of Jennifer Hudson because he was really feeling it and his facial expressions were hilarious.

The second video I am commenting on is the one with Ariana Grande. I chose to watch this video because I love her music. My favorite impression was when she did "The Wheels On The Bus" in Christina Aguilera's voice because her voice was strong and she sounded just like her. I think she did the best impressions out of the three videos.

  27. The first video of Jamie Foxx was very good. The video kept me very entertained. Jamie did really good on his impersonation of John Legend. When he couldnt find the way out curtain was my favorite part .Overall video was very entertaining.

My next video is Demi Lovato. I believe Demi Lovato is very overrated. This statement is proved when she sings spongebob squarepants. Demi has real talent. The impersonation were spot on also. This video was very entertaining as well.

Video 2: Ariana Grande impersonation were on point. She really captured the people she impersonated. Her impression of Christina Aguilera was so good. I replayed hers’ so many times. She sung the songs so effortless, I was so amused. Her voice is so strong and she is just so talented.
Video 3: Demi Lovato was very good. Her first two impressions were ok. I mostly enjoyed her Christina Aguilera impression to SpongeBob Square Pants. That one was good. She captured Christina very good. She wasn’t too confident on the first impression when she first started, but it was still pretty precise. Overall I loved her impersonations.

  29. The first video I watched is the one with Jamie Foxx. I think he was spot on with all of his impressions. It is funny to compare the actual artist to his impressions because they are so dead on. Artists have all different kinds facial expressions and different styles of singing. He did a great job of portraying those little details.

The second video i watched is the one with Ariana Grande. She also did good with the impressions. I think it helps that she has acted before. She also knows all the details about the artist she was portraying. Thats what makes her and Jamie Foxx's impressions good.
In summary both videos i watched were accurate.

  30. The first video I watched was with Jamie Foxx. He did a pretty good job impersonating John Legend. If I were to have heard this with my eyes closed, I would've most definitely thought I was listening to John Legend. When Jamie Foxx impersonated Jennifer Hudson, I couldn't help but think " That was perfect and on point". He did a lot of hand gestures that she does and hit those high notes as well. His facial expressions were also enjoyable.

The second video I watched was with Demi Lovato. When she did the impersonation of Fetty Wap I died. She killed me with that "squaaaa" and sounded a lot like him. Her expressions were entertaining and made me want to see what was next.

  31. The first video I would like to comment about is the one with Jamie Foxx. His impersonations were really funny. When he song John Legend's song it sounded just like him. When he sung Jennifer Hudson's song he really captured the way that she sings. He actually sounded good when he sung the songs which really isn't a big surprise because I know that he can sing.

The second video that I want to talk about is the one with Arianna Grande. I just love how she sings. She impersonated all three of the singers so well. She knew exactly how those singers would sing and sung the songs just like they would and hit every note. That video was very hilarious, especially when she sung like Brittany Spears.

  32. The first video I will be discussing is the one with Ariana Grande. I loved her impression of Brittney Spears. It was so funny! I liked how Ariana raised the pitch of her voice to match Brittney's. I also liked how she over-exaggerated how Brittney starts off words when she is singing. Ariana also did a really good job on
the Christina Aguilera impression. Ariana was getting into it, passionately, while still expressing the fact that Christina puts extra effort into her singing, which isn't exactly necessary.

The next video I will be discussing is the one with Demi Lovato. Demi also does a pretty good job with the impressions, though they weren't exact. To me, some of the voices just sounded the same. However, her Christina Aguilera impression blew my mind. To be completely honest, I'd say Demi's impression of Christina was a little better than Ariana's impression. Demi also over-exaggerated every little tone, making it both funny, and beautiful.

  33. The first one I watched was the one with Ariana Grande. I love her in general and was waiting to hear her beautiful voice. I thought from the first voice impression of Britney Spears to the last of Celine Deion was just amazing. Now I did not like the one of Britney Spears only because I don't care for her.

The second one I listened to was the one with Demi Lovato. The first one was her doing a voice impression of Cher to Bingo was his name 'o. I don't think that one was very on point and described her all around. The second one of her doing Fetty Wapp was better. She did his favorite catch line "yeah baby... ooooo eh" and the little runs he does. Finally, when she did Christina Agulera, I though it was spot on. Compared to when Ariana Grande, she did really well when it came to doing the same person.

  34. I love this it is hilarious especially Jamie fox. He gets into it so well. The thing that gets you is when he gets up to sing and dances around it makes the impersonation a lot better. The one ware he did mc jagger was funny the chicken and dancing around was good.
Arianna on the other hand I don’t think did good. She sounded lovely of coarse. But she was trying to sound good to hard and not getting into the game. That doesn’t make it fun you have to get into it and have fun it makes every one enjoy it a lot more.
