Rising from the Ashes!

This year has already turned out to be a unique one in that we have experienced some major changes that will affect the remainder of the year. With that in mind, we are in a state of rebirth or rejuvenation. For this week we are looking at songs that are inspirational and that can be used to help people cope or adjust to new beginnings. Post one selection that meets this criterion and include a link to it in the post. Your post should be at least one paragraph in length with correct spelling and grammar. No late posts are accepted. Please complete and turn in by Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11:59 pm.

  3. The song I chose is “Titanium” by David Guetta featuring Sia. I chose this song because the message behind it is very inspiring. Sia sings about how people can shoot her down but she won’t fall. The song speaks volumes to never giving up and no matter what people say you continue to keep going. Even when you feel like you have nothing you have something. I also like the fact that Sia can really sing and the song is just so beautiful.

  4. The song that I chose was “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly. I chose this song because it is a very inspirational song to sing to yourself everyday. You can remind yourself that you are somebody in fact you are the best. This song could really help someone who often put themselves down as it reminds them that they should only put themselves at the top and that they are great. This song also brings back memories because we would sing the same song in my elementary school.

  6. The song that I chose is “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen. It is the song that we sang last year for the showcase finale and I think it fits perfectly for our situation. The first two lyrics of the song say “Have you ever felt like nobody was there? Have you ever felt forgotten in the middle of no where?” which I think is how we all felt when we heard the news of the school fire. We felt alone and like we were in the middle of no where. However, as time went on and we saw how much support and love we had in the community and how much work was getting done, we started to feel hope and faith that everything was gonna be ok. That is reflected in this song with the lyrics “Well, let that lonely feeling wash away. Maybe there’s a reason to believe you’ll be okay.” So as we’ve went through this journey this song has described every step. Therefore, we know that as we continue our journey “We will be found”.

  7. The song that lifts my spirit is “Brighter Day” by Kirk Franklin. The intro upbeat nature automatically makes you want to get up o your feet and dance your problems away. The lyrics of not knowing that thinks be easy and turn for the greater good and acknowledging that there will be a brighter day. Whenever I am down and out about school and life I put “Brighter Day” and know that there can be and will be a renaissance of Zeniah. The songs lyrics and beat puts you in a better mood and takes all your worries away so that you can be bigger and better

  8. The song I chose was "Hold On" by The Walls Group. I've chosen this song because I believe that the message that The Walls Group was trying to send out was that if you are going through something, that you can always overcome from it and become better. Even though we've had hard times so far with grade but to also deal with our school burning is also difficult too. For us to back in school a week later, tells you that BTW can and will overcome hard and struggling obstacles.

  9. The song that I chose was "You raise me up" By Selah. I chose this song because it is very inspirational. The song says that when we are down and weary God will raise us up. Sometimes it is hard adjusting to a new environment but God can help us overcome anything that we feel we can't do by ourselves. This song fits the "rise from the ashes" theme because it says that God will raise us up on mountains rather than being on the ground in ashes.

  10. The song that I chose was "Smile" by Kirk Franklin. I chose this song because it is very inspiring. The song saying even though you might hurt it's better when you smile. So when things happen in your life you can get through them because everyday is not easy nor perfect. This song fits with our theme "Rise From The Ashes' because we were all sad at the fire that destroyed so much memorable things. Now look at us now we have a school to learn in and a new place to make new memories. Many people took the time to make this building like home.

  11. My chosen song is "He Turned It" by Tye Tribbett. I chose this song because it talks about how God will turn your life around no what you go through. I feel like this is a good song for people to listen to who are still getting used to the adjustment at the new location. Also this song is very lifting,it encourages those who are down and think that they are going to stay in the dark place forever. When he sings,"the devil thought he had me" that went very deep for me and I feel others can relate because of the news with the fire. Many people felt disappointed, sad, mad, and confused. So with this song I feel like it can restore their happiness and bring us back to how we used to be.

  12. The song "Shoulders" by for King and Country is a song about looking for strength. I feel this is fitting for our theme because the message of the song is relying on God for strength and guidance. The brothers sing about how God lifts us up on his shoulders and pulls us through our trials. We must, as students, rely on each other and do whatever we can to help our school and fellow students adjust to the best of our ability.

  13. The song I chose is "Titanium" by Sia. I chose this song because it talks about people having obstacles but come back harder than ever. Also, talks about strength within yourself. I felt this song was appropriate and something that just not myself but the whole student body at BTW because our school have faced a devastating fire and it have upset students so the most we could all do at this time is to be strong.

  14. The song I will be using is stronger by Tank. I chose because this song symbolizes how we can over come and be stronger. I really like this song because it has a meaningful message and I think everyone should listen to it. Even though we had a school fire we can all get stronger because of it. This song is another good song to describe why we say BTW strong.

  15. The song I chose was "Can't give up now" by Mary Mary. I chose this song because it's basically saying no matter what you go through or what happens, you can't give up. This relates to BTW because just because our school caught on fire doesn't mean that we need to give up. The fire should be motivation for us to be strong and push harder in everything we do around school.

  16. The song I chose is "Keep Your Head To The Sky" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. I chose this song because it's saying to me that having faith in God, we would find peace. Not that a spiritual walk will be easy but using the "tools" that we are given, we have a place to start. It also talks about as we repent, God gives us the strength to go on in life. We learn from the mistakes we make in life. The chances we take in life makes us stronger.

  17. The song i have chosen is "Greater is Coming"by Jekalyn Carr. I chose this song because it is very meaningful and speaks facts. Normally, when change happens it is easy to see it as a bad thing, but this song talks about changing for the better, and although the results cannot be seen from the start, God has a plan. When Booker T. Washington was destroyed it was easy to think of it as a bad situation, but God knew best and right now, although we our enduring a difficult process, greater is coming our way.

  19. The song I have chosen is "Music of Stillness" by Elaine Hagenberg. I just listened to this song today, and I really think it nails the subject of "rebirth." This piece makes me think of a new world, or a new life. Booker T. Washington's old location may be gone, but the spirit and life of the student body still shines bright. I think the lyric "I will make this world of my devising, out of a dream in my lonely mind" pertains to BTW because it symbolizes the struggle of the "moving on" process, but it also shows that we are trying to make the best of our situation, and that we are trying to make this place our home. I think this song is very deep, emotional, and inspiring.

  21. "One Step At A Time" by Jordan Sparks is an inspirational song that speaks to people that are feeling discouraged while working toward their goals. It tells of how the road to success is not perfect and there are a lot of struggles along the way. You can get knocked down along the way, but you shouldn't quit. When Building C of BTW burned down and inconvenienced us, we could have easy stopped working because we were disheartened, but it motivated us to work harder to continue to prove how excellent BTW students and faculty are and will continue to be. This song inspires people to continue to work hard to achieve their goals no matter what tries to stand in the way.

  22. The song that I chose as an inspirational song is "Ooh Child" by The Five Stairsteps. This song promises hope of a better day. Given the prior events of this school year we need encouragement and hope for a brighter future. When I listen to this song I am reminded that some day we'll get it together, things will get easier, and we will see a brighter day.

I also chose this song because the legend and G.O.A.T,Tupac, used a snippet in his inspirational song "Keep Your Head Up". Even though we have been through the storm and rain, we have to remember to keep our heads up. Just like the song "Ooh Child" promises, things are going to get easier. Right now we are going through changes that might make it hard to smile, but through all the rain and the pain we have to keep our sense of humor. This song reminds us that we have to be able to smile through all of this. Remember to keep our heads up because things are going to get easier. #BTWStrong

  23. “Weeping May endure for a night , trouble don’t last always , joy comes in the morning .. the sun is gonna shine if I hold out” I chose this song because it is VERY inspirational not just for me but it has touched the lives of so many others for several different reasons. Whatever you’re facing whatever problem you’re going through there will be joy if you only wait. The fire at Booker T. Washington Magnet High on August 8, 2018 was only a set back for a major comeback. The morning of the fire some of us were torn , some of us were baffled so many questions, so little answers we thought it closed so many doors only to realize it presented many more opportunities. Many different schools and organizations in Montgomery helped In so many ways whether they sent volunteers, food, supplies or even money we are ever so grateful. We’re blessed !

“Imagine” by Nico and Vinz is a very inspirational song. This song explains the importance of relationships during times of adversity. Furthermore, “Imagine” also encourages its listeners to never give up. My favorite lyric from “Imagine” is “Don't give up, don't give in
Keep on until the end”. All in all, Nico & Vinz’s “Imagine” is a song that could help anyone through any trial.

  30. The song I chose is Can’t give up by lady K. This song is about just what the title says, you can’t give up . She talks about her struggles with life and adversity, but also how she overcame all of those things. She expresses how she stayed hopeful, ignored the negativity, and most importantly kept her faith. She is a very good singer so the message was very clear through her singing. It was almost as if you felt the pain in her voice. I think this song is a great example of how we should keep going and stay positive while making the best out of an unfortunate situation

  31. I chose the song “Beautiful People” by Chris Brown because this song speaks on how everyone is unique/beautiful in their own way. Whether it is appearance or personality, being beautiful is all around us. It shows you can be different and proud to show off your true colors whether people hate on you or not. I myself believe that I am truly beautiful and showing who you really are is the bravest and most amazing thing to do. Be you and not anyone else.

  32. The song I chose is "Whether you fall" by Tracy Bonham from a movie about real friendship. I chose this song because it is very inspirational to anyone who may listen to it. It gives a message to those who are going through no matter what it may be. It spreads one message to various situations and problems that others are intaking. The song tells the listener to stay up and stay on go and even when you fall or don't succeed you should get up and keep trying until you do. BTW familys' situation is our school building fire which was a minor lost. Even though we lost a portion. We can always fill in that gap with our talents and successes. We can keep moving forward in the best way possible.

  33. The song I chose was "Carry On Wayward Son" by the band Kansas. I chose this because it inspires me to keep on fighting the good fight, no matter what I do or how I do it. The lyrics match my life, my personality, my actions, and my motivation. I cry just about every time I hear this song because I am reminded of what I have done, but I feel motivated at the same time because it also reminds me of what I can do in the future to make everything well.
