POPS Choreography
Since we are now working on choreography for POPS, let's look at choir (or Pop artists) who use choreography in their performances. Find two examples for this post: one good/great and one that could use some improvement. In your post, make sure you critique both videos. List two positive areas and two areas for improvement. Trinity Highschool Show Choir performed Eye of The Tiger . They did an excellent job. They had a lot of energy and great stage presence . They were all in uniform . They had good balance in their voices. However , timing was off at some

The Shelby Show Choir disappointed me . They were unprofessional . They did not have a lot of energy or good stage presence. Also , they were not together with their movements ( timing issues.)However , they had great balance , and you were able to understand what they were singing.

The school I chose for a good performance was Miller South. The song they performed was I want you back. This performance was good because they were all entergetic and they were on beat with their dance moves. They also had smiles on their face which made me want to watch them even more. This performance was good I enjoyed it a lot.

The next choir I am critiquing is show choir. This choir did an ok job. It really wasn’t that interesting because they weren’t really on beat and they didn’t have a lot of rhythm. They also didn’t have many facial expressions and it looked like some of them didn’t know what they were doing. Overall this choir did an ok performance.

The Johnston Impact Show Choir performed at Urbandale Invitational. This performance was very well put together.Their energy and synchronization was awesome along with their choreography.When they were singing their voices blended well with each other and everything was timed perfectly.Everything was on point in my opinion.

The SST Show Choir's performance was good although there were a few things that could be critiqued.The choreography was excellent and the synchronization was good.Their singing was a little out of tune and could use a bit more practice. Also, facial expressions could have been way better they didn't seem like they were enjoying it only a select few were smiling. Besides everything was really good and entertaining.

The Baldwin show choir had a funny and cute dance for Jingle Bells. In my opinion, their performance was actually energetic and confident. The dance moves is very good but I couldn't really hear them harmonizing as much as I wanted

The Clinton Attache Show Choir performance at show choir nationals. This performance was great because they were loud the and they danced together. They were well dressed and you could tell they put a lot of work into the performance. The choreography was a jazz modern type. They facial expression were also good.

The SHS Show Choir performance wasn't that great. They didn't sing loud enough. They didn't have enough energy when they were dancing. They also didn't dance together.They look like they didn't practice because some people didn't know the dance very well. Their facial expression were also not very good they didn't really look excited or happy to be singing. i also couldn't really understand them.

The Oak Park River Forest High School Show Choir performed Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' by Michael Jackson. This performance was good because they had good choreography. They could have projected more. They had good facials and you could tell they were having fun.

The SHS Show Choir performed Thriller by Michael Jackson. They did not do so good. They had good choreography but since some people were not as enthusiastic, the choreography looked sloppy. Some people had more energy than others. The person recording the video keeps talking throughout the performance so you can't really hear them. They needed to project more.

The UpStage Show Choir performed a Michael Jackson Medley. This performance was amazing because how they transition between each song. There choreography was well put together and they looked like one. You could hear their parts , but the music should have been lower so you can hear the richness of their voice. Everybody had good facials also and look like they were enjoying their selves.

The SHS Show Choir performed Thriller by Michael Jackson. They did okay, I wasn't impressed by their performance. The choreography was pretty good, but others looked like they didn't want to be there. The music was so loud that it drown out their vocals. Some of the parts I did hear they were nice. The lady in the background need to stop talking during the video especially if you going to post it.

The Australian Girls Choir performed "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson. To me, I really enjoyed this choir because of how they were together on choreography, how you could hear all parts and how they pronounciated when they were singing. They also had different girls singing the adlibs and I thought that was really cool because I've never heard that before.Although the performace was good, they could improve on their facials and singing a bit louder.

The Greenville High School Advanced Choir performed "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire. This performance was very boring. The performers looked like they were not interested in what they were doing. They also did not have energy at all. However, the parts wer clear and they were loud.

DLS showchoir performed "Walking on sunshine" and throughout the entire performance they had great energy. I loved how they were smiling and they looked like they enjoyed performing. When they started singing you could hear their words clearly. This was a good performance.

DeQueen Showchoir wasn't the best when it came to dancing. They rushed their choreography but they kept their energy while dancing. In the beginning you couldn't understand any words they were saying. They could have cleaned up there singing and dancing before they performed.

The Decatur Elite Energy show choir performed numerous songs including He turned it, Bless Me Our, Brand New Day ,Think Movin Out and Closer is Go your own way. Their performance was excellent! The dance moves were incredible and so synchronized! I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like it. ReplyDeleteThe McKinley middle school show coir performed Pompeii, Salute,Treasure,Seasons of Love and Can't Stop The Feeling . They had great energy but on some parts the sound faded. Also they need to work on pronunciation or their words because a lot of times I had no idea what they were saying. The sopranos could use some help because they sounded very off on certain parts.

The Crossings Show Choir performed The Greatest Show. The use of the prop in the beginning was a very creative idea to recreate the beat in the actual movie. The girls show a great amount of energy while singing. However, with the choreography everyone did not know what to do. Also, I wish the boys were a little louder because the girls were so loud you could barely hear the boys.
ReplyDeleteThe Ironwood Ridge High School Encore Show Choir sung Bruno Mars Lazy Song. They started off with amazing energy and facial expressions. In a part of the song the girls on the side messed up and there oohs the harmony wasn't all the way there.

The John Burrough’s Powerhouse Show Choir’s stage performance of “This is War” is one of the most entertaining I’ve watched so far. Not only was it interesting, but they also did a good job performing the song with live vocals while constantly moving in a large group on stage.

The Hornet Harmonies musical group performed “Please Mr. Postman” by The Carpenters at Cabaret. While they had amazing harmony, pitch and diction, their stage performance itself lacked in most areas. Their moves were boring and repetitive. Had they moved around more and included a variety of dance moves, it would’ve been both interesting to watch and listen to instead of only being the latter.

The first performance that I chose was “Dance to the music” by Arizona All-State Show Choir. I really enjoyed watching this choir perform because the choreography looked great along with the music they sung. I loved that everyone had on the correct uniforms. I honestly can’t find anything wrong with their performance and any improvements that they need to work on.

The second performance that I will be is showCase preforming a Michael Jackson Medley. This is the performance that I least liked. They can dance better than I can but I didn’t like it because you can barely hear what they were singing. The performance was very energetic but maybe if they weren’t dancing so hard they would be and to articulate their words more. I must admit that they danced pretty good but they should have put that same energy dancing to those lyrics.

The SLHS Music Company performed I want You Back by Michael Jackson. They did really well. They had great energy and had good vocals. I like the fact that they looked clean and neat in their movements. Areas they should improve on are keeping up with the music and staying on beat with choreography.

The other choir that I saw was the William Allen High School. They could have done a whole lot better. They were off key at some points and their dancing was all over the place for them to be high school students. Positive views on their performance was they had good projection. They also were very enthusiastic and looked like they were having fun.

The Beyoncé performance I chose was very good. Beyoncé was able to keep you captivated. Alongside that her choreography was stellar. The choir that I chose for the good performance is Greece Athena Middle Show Choir they sung " This Is Me". This performance was extremely well put together.Their vitality and synchronization was wonderful alongside their choreography.When they were singing their voices mixed well with one another and everything was planned perfectly.Everything was on point as I would like to think.

The following choir I am critiquing is show choir. This choir completed an alright job. It truly wasn't that fascinating in light of the fact that they weren't generally on beat and they didn't have a considerable measure of musicality. They likewise didn't have numerous outward appearances and it resembled some of them didn't comprehend what they were doing. Generally speaking this choir completed an alright execution.

I chose the Chicago Children's Choir-Michael Jackson medley as my good performance because they were all on beat with their choreography and they did a good job harmonizing on the songs. However the tenors could have been louder.

Uniondale Show Choir did an amazing job in their "Rhythm of the Knight" medley performance showcasing a lot on different genres in one performance. They had amazing energy and using dynamics, such as piano and crescendo, very well. Their dance moves were all uniform and they didn't miss a beat even with there being a lot of people on stage. The parts blended together really nicely, but on like 1 or 2 sections, an alto line would be drowned out, so I would say that could be improved. Everyone looked like they enjoyed what they were doing and the facial expressions made the performance really entertaining.

CCHS Show Choir did a good job on their Michael Jackson Medley. They were really energetic and had great volume. The weren't necessarily bad because they sounded good on a majority of the performance, but some sections could be worked on to improve the performance. At some points the notes didn't sound good because they were really breathy and it sounded like they were yelling. The parts also didn't blend well on some sections. If they fixed notes and practiced being together on the dance moves, this could be a great performance.

ReplyDeleteIn the first video I watched, an unnamed show choir performed a medley of songs from the Broadway musical "Grease". The performers in the video did a really good job. The performance, for a vast majority of the video, included good choreography. This choreography matched each song that was sung and had a style that corresponded with each song. The performers also had amazing amounts of energy. However, there was one section that looked awful and sloppy. They needed to change the choreography altogether because it was unpleasing to the eye. In addition, the choir needs to improve their professional skills because one performer was fixing her clothes during a moment of stillness on stage, therefore ruining the look of the entire choir.

The performance done by the GCCC choir to the "Michael Jackson Choir Medley" was so terrible it would've caused the late "King of Pop" to roll in his grave. The choir was dressed very nicely. Additionally, the members of the choir sung with passion and had very nice facial expressions. However, the choreograpy was absolutely too simple. Simplicity can be a good thing in some cases, however in this case it was not. Moreover, the kids in the choir either stood in place or rocked from side to side in an uncoordinated fashion when there was no distinct choreography being performed.

The First Performance I watched was ICA Show Choir: Were All In This Together. I really liked the high energy level throughout the performance that they kept up. They didn't sound out of breath while they were singing. The choreography looked really fun and matched the song. Some area of improvements are that at some point the choreography, although it was good, seemed repetitive, but it was still a god performance.

The second performance I watched was Show Choir- Walking on Sunshine. This performance was not bad it was ok. I liked their costumes and how they coordinated with each other. The choreography was a little plain but matched the song well. Some area of improvements are , at 2:59 they seemed out of breath and it was hard to understand what they were saying. Some of them didn't show a lot of expression while dancing.

The first video of choreography I’ve chosen to critique is the Tony Awards 2016 performance of Hamilton. This is an example of absolutely exsqusite choreography. From the moment the dancers step onto the stage you can sense their energy, even when they are just standing still. Then when they start dancing,they are so synchronized. The synchronization is so exact, in fact, that even the way their jackets fly when they spin is the same. All their ripples and transitions are clean. There are no visible mistakes. Overall, this is a great performance by great dancers.

The second video i’ve decided to critique is the GHS show choir’s performance of “The Greatest Show”. This performance is absolutely horrendous, the complete opposite of the first video. Firstly, the choreography overall is just terrible. They have boring choreography,it doesn’t wow me in any way. Then the dance moves they do have are not executed well whatsoever. The choir just looks unsure and tired when they do the dance moves. For example, on one part they do a semi lunge and bounce up and down. It took them a long time to get into the position and they barely performed the bouncing motion. Also, the soloist at the beginning has no energy at all. He sounds like he sleepwalked onto the stage and started singing. It is sickening. I can tell that this might be a rehearsal performance, but they cannot practice this way. As my choir teacher Mr. williams has stated, you have to practice how you want to sound on stage and they can’t practice in this manner if they want a good performance.

in this second one I enjoyed how they did a popular song and how they broke it up into different parts that made it sound neat and organized. they could improved on the area of the fact that the original version is inappropriate song but they did switch it up. also their outfits are all over world, they needed organized outfits for everyone.

The IL all-state show choir performed "Love Runs Out" in the year 2015. The choir produced a great performance, in my opinion. Not only was the choreography very smooth, but the choir's tone, sound, and energy was generally very good too. The soloist had a very low, alto-like voice, and I think she also had a lot of energy and commitment to the song. Despite this, it was a little hard to tell what the choir was saying at times; their diction was off in some areas. They also didn't clap in sync occasionally, but other than that, I thought the performance was very good.

The second video I'll be critiquing is The Cutting Edge Show Choir's performance of "One Night Only." This choir's performance wasn't awful, but it did have areas that needed some major improvement. For one, the choreography seemed weak and un-practiced. The choir's sound was also very weak with their sound, and also their energy. Despite this, the choir did have good tone, and they also knew how to show their emotion in their faces. They had great expression. The soloist also did a great job with her tone and range; she sounded very confident.

The first choir I chose was, Bohemian Rhapsody show choir performance. This choir did a really good job. Although I feel that they were lacking energy, their movement was great. At the beginning, I feel the movement was simple but entertaining. Then towards the middle they had stunts and more complex moves. All their moves were in sync, together, and well rehearsed. They even used props and did well with them too.

Next I chose, The East Chapel Hill Concert Choir. They sang Thriller. The performance was ok, but it was nothing special. I feel as though they could have done better on timing with their moves. This way they could have been more in sync on the parts where they danced in unison. Some people were ahead and others were behind the beat. They also could have used better zombie facial expressions.

This is the first show choir I chose. They did great! They were able to move around and dance, all while staying in sync with one another. I really loved the lighting and how well this was put together. I think their director could've been more in costume.

This show choir was very good! They sounded good and kept great energy throughout the entire performance. I like that their outfits were all matching and organized. I wish they could've been a little bit louder and had a better camera man. The music was overpowering their words or maybe it was because of where the camera man was recording, it sort of drowned them out. But overall, it was a great performance.
