BTW Choral Students Chat!

For this first blog post of the 2021-2022 school year, write about whatever you want to discuss. It can be how good of a year you are having, how you are adjusting to being back in school, what you want to do after you graduate from high school, etc. Make sure your post is appropriate for school and that you have at least 2 paragraphs of information (a paragraph is 5-7 sentences). Once you finish writing, include the link to a YouTube video of a song or performance that you like. Tell everyone why you like the song or performance and if it has some special meaning to you. Make sure that once you write, you either sign in with a Google login so that your post is linked to your name. If you cannot log in with a Google id, then choose anonymous as your id and include your name at the end of your post. If you need help, please let Mr. Williams know before Friday. All posts are due by Friday, November 5, 2021 by 11:59 PM. Late posts will lose points each day late. Here is a video for a song that I like.

  1. My time is winding down and the months leading up to graduation are going fast. This leaves me to make some important decisions for my near future. After graduating high school, I plan to attend college. My intended major is Biology. With my Biology degree, I plan to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the study of women's reproductive organs. As an OBGYN I will be tasked with consulting with women trying to conceive, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, performing check-ups on pregnant patients, and various other duties. During every stage of a woman's life, an OBGYN can provide her with a wide range of services that can help her. I want to become an OBGYN because I want to be able to help women and girls live healthy and balanced lives. I also want to educate women and men about the reproductive health of women.

Above is a performance that I like. I think she sounded great doing a cover of this song. I also like how she added her own style and flavor to Childish Gambino's song.

  2. I'm really enjoying my time at BTW. I had a lot of fun in the first quarter and I really got a feel of how the school is. In the start of the second quarter I was struggling a little bit but then I caught up with my work and now I'm back on track. I need to start using my planner again though. Recently I've forgotten events in school that were supposed to happen because I didn't write it down.
I'm ready for college though. I'm getting tired of the routine. I've been thinking about which majors may interest me and right now Im thinking about sports marketing. I want to be able to make commercials for the NFL in the future. They also get paid a lot and that's what I'm really interested in.

Above is the link to POV by Ariana Grande. I love that song because every time I hear it it's just a vibe and it puts me in a peaceful place. I just feel calm when I hear it.

  3. My time in school is coming close to an ending with graduation approaching soon. With the school year being started I have had many different college decisions to make. Whether I want to go to college or take a GAP year. For me I have been having a tough time trying to figure out If I should major in dance something I absolutely love, or in neuroscience so I can become a neurologist. Time is ticking and I am still stuck. I applied to six schools already three being art for dance and the other three for neuroscience. Being indecisive about my major is a bit stressful. I really love to dance and in the future I plan to audition with a big principle ballet. So it does make since for me to major in dance right?
Since the new school year has started I also switched dance studios. I have been feeling much more confident when I dance now and I learn a lot more than I have before. Being back at actually school is kind of weird for me because I’m not use to waking up early anymore. Life has been good and busy so far with dance, school, and work I’m always busy on my feet! Hopefully by graduation I will have my mind made up about which major I want to do. Right now I think it will most likely be dance.

I love this song because it reminds me that it is okay to take time off for yourself and relax. Self care is always important and from time to time we need mental breaks. The best alone is amazing too!!

  4. School this year has most definitely been interesting, considering the fact that we are back in person during a pandemic. I will say that it has been almost a process for me all over again, but in certain aspects. I feel a bit more prepared, joined some clubs, and got a planner to help keep me on track with assignments, events, etc. I could very much well say that I am ready to pursue my chosen career and finish school off. After twelve years of education, graduation is going to be a big accomplishment for the seniors and the lowerclass students who are going to reach that point very soon.
I plan to attend college straight after highschool to be a Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician, where I will major in Medical science. I'm excited to further my education, I know it's going to be hard work, but success doesn't come overnight! I get to conduct blood tests (possibly doing blood work), DNA/Paternity tests, and much more depending on which field of clinical science I go in, but I have many options. At first, it was hard making a decision on what I wanted to do as my profession. However, science has always been something that always interested me, so getting to do that and perform tests and scans for doctors I will be working with in the future is what I am ready to take on when the time comes.

The song is called "You Want My Love" by one of the best old school groups Earth, Wind, and Fire and featuring Lucky Daye. I love this song, because one you can never go wrong with old school. The new school mixed in gives it a nice and laidback tone, with heavy R&B and the group's old school flavor.

  5. Being at BTW has been amazing. I have met so many new friends and great teachers. There are some teachers that aren't my favorite but I know they are trying to help me for my own good. I have been getting good grades and I pray it will stay that way. I am hoping by my graduation time I will have at least 3 scholarships.
Lately, I haven't been sleeping well, but I hope that changes. For the past few weeks I have been reunited with my cousin.I haven't seen her in almost 2-3 years so it's nice to see her again. This weekend I am going to my sister's house to hang out with her. Overall I have been doing fine and I'm very happy with where my life is right now.

I have been in love with this song because I really do feel that if you wait for the right people you will have an amazing experience with them.

  6. Today I recounted the ideas and the debate of Bohr and Einstein on quantum theory. Ideas that revolutionized the theory of our universe. The ideas of entanglement spawned from this debate. The debate ultimately ended decades later thanks to John Clauser claiming Bohr the victor. What a wonder is history. - Joseph Smith

    1. Likewise, I would like to inform or to persuade your ideals in favor of my on. There is power and there is strength but which is more suited for the ideals of the modern man and which for his more antiquated ancestors? Is it strength where in lies the basis of human survival or is it power in which one can have to conquer all? Where as strength defends power protrudes it's horns into the abdomen of it's compatriots such that one could say no man should have all that power.

  7. My school year had not been the best due to the compromised health of my grandparents. But that hasn't stopped me top have some fun. Every now and then I go to my Masajid or Mosque to pray and also have fun. Late at nights me my father cousin and uncles go there to play some table tennis or ping pong. This year our Masajid has saved up more than enough money to build another 6000 sqft building for a community center for any islamic events.

After I graduate I am committed to enrolling into the medical field in UAB hopefully, this is because it have urging desire to learn more about it and pursue in it.

This year I am also moving so its a big change because its my first move believe it or not. But I think I'll enjoy it. This year and next year my goals are to become a better, more characterized, and a more studious not to studious and overall better person. Next year I am aiming to go to Umrah in Mecca to have a better and stronger iman.

Oh and I am mostly at the gym!

I chose this song because its very sweet calming, and kind of gets you to think in the past, present, and future well that's what happens to me when I to it. Its kind of an old song but you know what they always say old songs are better! This song is in the language URDU which i speak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptdVuijIQQE

I also chose another song and its on Arabic. This song itself is just a great song not only because of the lyrics but the beat. This beat is a Dabke beat which is a type of dance in the Middle Eastern traditions. Like Palestinians and Lebanese. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZcuhZa0rns

BTW none of these words in these languages are inappropriate.

  8. I’ve been figuring out what colleges would be good for me lately. A couple months ago, I was looking to attend Yonsei University which is out of the country, but now I’m looking to do at least two years in America before I leave. Yonsei is a good school and would give me the chance to explore a different country. I need a school that just gives the typical college experience. Parties, events, etc. are required for my choice of college even if I don’t attend them. I just don’t want to go to a college full of squares and wierdos.
So I may attend The University of Alabama, because I know the city and the college is getting major improvements. Those on-school apartments are really nice. There’s this place called foosacklys across the street and they have really good chicken tenders, but that’s just my opinion. I also have a lot of family in Tuscaloosa so I’ll be able to visit them frequently. That’ll be a fun experience I guess. Anyways, I hope y’all have a good day.

Here’s a song called Smile- by Kirk Franklin because all the songs I listen to would not be suitable for this post. ;)

  9. This school year has been interesting, but it's time for me to think about what colleges I would like to attend and look at scholarships to be able to attend those specific colleges. I have been accepted to 4 colleges so far: ASU, UAB, South Alabama, and Montevallo University. I plan on getting my bachelor's degree, then get my master's degree. But I'm still having trouble deciding what major I want to do. I'm stuck between majoring in Theatre or Psychology, but for my minor I plan on minoring in Entrepreneurship and Business. I love both majors but it's hard finding what's the best fit for me overall. They both have equal opportunities; in Theatre, I believe it's a good way of exercising my acting talents and I believe it will push me out my comfort zone, but Psychology is also something that I like; I love learning about other people and giving advice, but on the other hand science hasn't always been my best subject.

I want to open my own business after I graduate college. I have many talents but I don't know which major would push me out of my comfort zone. I feel like if I major in Theatre I would be able to learn and work on my skills in acting, which will hopefully lead to me trying out for acting gigs for Tyler Perry, etc. But if I major in Psychology, that would lead me to have a potential job as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Hopefully I have chosen my major before I graduate, so that way I can prepare for the Fall Semester.

https://youtu.be/52LJqY-emLU I chose this song by Chloe and Halle because I love this song. And also because it was the most appropriate song for this assignment.

  10. I am enjoying my time at BTW. Being at school in-person is very different from being virtual. Even though some of my classes are hard, I am starting to get used to the workload. I'm not 100% sure what I want to do after high school, but I think I want to be an aerospace engineer. I've always loved space ever since I was little, and working at NASA was one of my life-long dreams.

The only downside to being in school in-person is that I less time to cook/bake. Baking is one of my favorite hobbies, and I bake every time I feel stressed. The most recent thing I baked were snowball cookies. They are a winter cookie that has powdered sugar. The last thing I cooked was chicken parmesean with rigatoni pasta. Even though I don't have as much time to cook, I still make time to cook or baker after school and on the weekends.

The song I chose is "Easy on Me" by Adele. I chose this song because I like the song. I've always loved Adele's music, so I was very excited when she released this song.

  11. This school year has been pretty boring for me. All I have been doing is school, work and taking care of my home. School is going well for my senior year and I'm glad we are in person for it. My grades have been good for me to work my senior year. I would definitely say it's not for the weak because its very stressful along with carving out your personal time. My job is interesting at times but I think I want to get another job.

My plans for after high school is to go to college to major in nursing to later become an RN. This has been my dream occupation since I've been in the 3rd grade. I like to believe that if a dream can come that far along then it can be accomplished. I have a passion for helping people and making them feel better so being a nurse would fit me well. I do have 3 other careers picked out if nursing doesn't go. They are: Cosmetology, therapist, or broadcast media.
I like the song "Wfm" by RealestK. It is such a relaxing song and that's mostly all I listen to. Its just a vibe!

  12. I'm at this point in my life where I really can't believe I'm about to graduate and become an adult. It feels like I was just in middle school yesterday. Since I an a senior in high school now, I have to make bigger decisions. These decisions are clearly bigger than the ones I had to make in the past. One thing I do know is that I'm going straight to college after I graduate I CAN NOT take a gap year.

When I go to college I will being going to first get my bachelors in Health Information Management. Health Information Management is the practice of analyzing and protecting digital and traditional medical information. This also involves medical coding and billing. I was thinking about going back to school like later on to become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.( my dream job) I may still do it but as of right now I don't know.

I like this song "The Rose song" because it has more of a message to it the song isn't really about a flower. Its about knowing your worth and knowing that the way that people define you shouldn't be the way you define yourself.

  13. I am now a junior. It is honestly so crazy saying that. Time really does fly. I have made the best memories being in choir. My all time favorite has to be showcase. Roaming around with my friends was always so much fun. Performing in front of that big of an audience was such a surreal feeling.

Being a junior I have many things I need to worry about. Things such as the SAT, ACT, colleges, and scholarships. When I start to worry I think of my future. All of this hard work will pay off one day. I can't decide on being a surgeon or a lawyer.

  14. Currently, BTW is one of the greatest experiences I have ever encountered. This school is full of talented, caring, and respectful students. It is much easier to make friends here than other schools. Student are also free to express themselves and their talents as well. In conclusion, BTW is the best school. (Don't lie either.)

Most likely many of you have never heard of the game "Danganronpa" but it is a Japanese video game that talks about a group of high school students who are forced into murdering each other to escape the school that they are trapped in. The game talks about real life problems and gives you advice that you can use in real life as well. For example, one of the high school students sacrificed themselves to let the other high school students escape. For those who are not interested in gaming, there is a version of Danganronpa in an anime form. That way you can watch the events instead of playing them. I believe that playing the game or watching a YouTuber such as iBerleezy, play the game is a great way to immerse and challenge your mind to escape the murderous school.

(Here is a song I’ve been in love with lately.)

  15. Comparing last year's school year to this years, I realized that face to face is a lot better than virtual. Last year, I was not motivated as much as I should have been. Also, since I did not come from MPS before 9th grade, I did not known anyone and I was not as social because we only had one hour zooms and I did not have enough time to make any friends. I could not build relationships with any of my teachers either because after zooms, I just did my homework. Face to face school has been a lot more enjoyable so far.
Having school in person has helped me in many ways. I am able to be more motivated in my school work because I have a positive environment surrounding me. I am also more engaged in activities we do in class, homework, and lessons. Coming to school In person has also helped me socially as I am around more people and have made many new friends. My teachers and I have built stronger relationships and learning is easier because I and stay focused and communicate better when I am struggling. I have really enjoyed my school year in person!

The song I chose to share is "Peace of Mind" by Lauryn Hill. I picked this song because it is my favorite because of the way Lauryn not only communicates her message through the lyrics, but also her tone, and emotions, nd the instrumental which also convey the message.

  16. I have been a bit stressed out because of school. These tests and just assignments for days on end are overwhelming. I wish there were just two of me to help me with all this work that is piled up. One day it maths the next its history. I appreciate the knowledge but jeez laweez. I honestly have so many assignments due in one week that I forget I have access to classes that also have to be putting my attention on.
It honestly feels like teachers don’t want us to have any free time. As much as you all talk about how you have a life, so do we. It's annoying to have to deny people when they ask me to do the thing I love most(get out of the house),all because I still have work to do for a teacher that gave 8 assignments in one week and alo another test the next time we see that teacher. Life is already more boring than giving thousands of assignments to make it worse. All the laborious assignments just truly stress me out and so do their due dates.

This link above is a music video of Happier Than Ever. I chose this song because I feel that I have a close relationship with this song and it helps me cope with things.

  17. Recently things have going well for me. Since everyone is talking about college so will I. I'm in a dual enrollment class which actually went easier than I expected. This proves that you shouldn't to what others tell you because before taking this class friends told me it was the hardest thing I could have even chosen. After this I may just take one more and use my senior as just a free moment from too much work. All I really want to do is spend as little money as possible which is why I am taking these classes, and so far it's working!
On another topic I am really glad the the first nine weeks are over with. There was something about returning to school after an entire year at home that was so difficult. Along with others who also made it difficult because they were going through the same thing. But finally I think that I am back into the groove that is school. I am doing good in all of my classes, and am no loner struggling. I hope it remains like this because unlike last year, the school experience is just different while in person instead of over Zoom.
Here are 2 songs that I literally had on repeat last year:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-da28p8B2o
I like this song because there is a part where Haley Williams is singing the chorus without any music in the background which I love because of the emotion that she portrays in her voice. It is very similar to another song by Paramore called- "All I Wanted"
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMpypbtrcCg
I like this song because of the strings in the background of the song. It reminds me of The Beatles' "Elanor Rigby"

  18. Being in 11th grade so far has been so surreal because I am now an upperclassmen. I have come to the realization that after this year, it will be my last year in MPS schools and I will have to start applying for colleges. This year I have to focus on keeping my grades up because this is the year colleges look at the most while focusing on trying to make a good score on the ACT. It is stressful and overwhelming because things you do this year really set you up for your future. It has been very helpful though because we are now back in person opposed to us being virtual for another year.
After I graduate high school I wish to attend one of my top 5 schools with a full ride scholarship. I am aiming for an out of state college to give me a full ride because I want to get out of Alabama. I want a new environment other than Alabama and I feel like going to an out-of-state college is my way to experience that and meet new people. I want to major in Biology Pre-Med to later become a Pediatrician. I have been planning this future for a while for after I graduate and I always pray that it goes through.

This is my favorite song. It is called "Gone Away" by H.E.R. I like this song because I can listen to it when i'm sad, happy, or any mood else I'm feeling. I love the melody and the lyrics in general. It's a song that I don't think I'll ever get tired of.

  19. This year has been interesting already. I'm in my junior year and it feels weird saying that because the last time I was physically in school I was in the 9th grade. It has been intriguing to see my classmates step into a leadership role since were now upperclassmen. Now, since I've become an 11th grader I have realized that I have to now step into that leadership role. This will take time, dedication, and patience especially when trying to guide the freshman when they are new to highschool and the stress highschool can create.

Now, I'm very excited about moving into a new building next year. I honestly feel that the morale of the students will increase once my move into the new building. I hope to make many more memories that I'll remenber for the rest of my life. In the meantime I hope that the rest of my junior year is memorable and full of great experiences. All in all I'm looking forward to the future and intriguied by what next year will bring but for now I'm enjoying my junior year as much as I can.

"Better Days" will forever be burned into my memory just off the simple fact that this was the highlight of my freshman year at BTW. This song had everyone in the audience extremely hype and being able to be apart of something as special as Showcase is something I hope I never forget.

  20. I love to read Mangas. Manga is basically Japanese comic books. My favorite genre is horror, thriller, psychological suspense, and BL. I have 20 mangas so far and i get one at least every month. I mostly get them from Books-A-Million.
My favorite manga series at the moment is called Blood On The Tracks. It is a great psychological suspense series. It's more imagery than words, but the images played a big part in the manga. The manga is basically about a crazy mother who rather manipulate her son than get help. Her son is really going through it because of her.

  21. This school year has been a breath of fresh air for me because for the first time in months I feel "myself." Quarantine has been really harsh on my mental health, and I feel so relieved that I get to spend time with my friends and have a social life again now that we attend school physically. I am still processing that I am a junior in highschool. It feels like yesterday I was struggling in Mr. Conway's class and trying to get to know everyone. I always tend to look back at the past, and it makes me sad that I spent the majority of my highschool experience at home behind a screen. Time is flying by so fast, and honestly I am not ready for the future. I haven't been looking at many colleges because I have no clue what I want a career in. It's scary to me because it seems like everyone has their future plans together and I barely know what I'm going to do tomorrow. Right now, I'm simply just living and enjoying the memories that I make everyday.
On another note, this is the happiest I've been in a long time. Even with the stress of keeping my grades up I still feel amazing mentally. I've changed a lot since freshman year, and I am looking to further improve myself in upcoming years. I've started taking care of myself more; I even began my natural hair journey. I feel like this year is a year to get myself together and grow into a wiser and healthier version of Terryn. I hope that you all do the same as well!

  22. This is my second time typing this..... this school year has been ok so far. It feels weird being back in school after a year of being on virtual. But I do kind of enjoy being back and being able to socialize with people again. It is annoying to wear an mask all though. I have enjoyed being is choral this year so far, the people make it fun and it has brought many funny moments to my day. The bad part about going to school in person again is the getting up in the morning.

In my free time outside of school I like to watch anime and read books. There haven't been any good animes recently so I'm hoping for some new shows to come out. I'm just really getting back into reading because I had lost passion for it. It has been been really nice to get back into reading again.

The name of the song is " My Mind" By Yebba. I choose this song because it is a really good song and if you listen to the words she is saying it has a good meaning also. She is able to draw your emotion and you can hear the emotion and hurt in her voice.

  23. Second time writing this, let’s hope it works this time. So the first time i just talked about how this year has been a little weird. It hasn’t been the best for my mental health but it’s been great to be back around friends again. I’m relearning how to take care of myself while also not letting my priorities lapse. Although, it’s been a pretty rocky start i think the only place to go from here is up, at least hopefully.

This is a cover of Jolene by the wonderful Lil Nas X. This song is one of my favorites because you can’t sing it without envoking a feeling of loss. Pleading with the other partner that you know about to not take them away no matter how much it's tearing you apart. Listening to Lil Nas X’s take is extra wrenching because of the commodity loyal partners not hiding a piece of themselves to seem more palatable to society is in the queer community. Not to mention it's a Dolly song, that alone does half the work.

  24. This year has been really good so far. It is been a shift from doing online school to back in person. I have to get my schedule back orientated and adjust. I'm doing good in my classes so far which is good. I never thought that my favorite subject would be math but it is since I'm doing better at it then other classes.
Outside of school I mostly just binge watch shows on Netflix. I also browse social media and watch YouTube videos. I sometimes print out coloring sheets and just color for fun. I also attends my brothers sports games if I don't have to much homework which is rarely. Every time my Aunt has to leave home to go to another state I always babysit her dogs which I really enjoy since the only pet that I have at home are fishes that I had since February and July.

  25. The transition from sitting at home all-day to waking up for school has been tough especially since this is my senior year. Between classes, my job, filling out applications, and preparing for college it has been stressful. I am getting better at balancing the load even though I go to sleep late some nights. Soon I will be graduating, and I'm a little excited. I get to meet new people and start pursuing my future career in the medical field. As of right now, I am choosing to attend either UAB or South Alabama and major in Biology.

So far my senior year has been ok. It could be better but we are in a pandemic so we are limited. If we're being honest my high school experience has been a roller-coaster ride. My freshman year the school burned down. Then, my sophomore year got cut short because of the pandemic. My whole junior year was spent in quarantine. Now its my senior year and we can't do anything cause we're still in a pandemic and the worst part is we might not even have a prom because of COVID restrictions.

The song I chose is "Hurt Me" because it shows all the hard work I have put into music. Especially, since music has played such an important role in my life since I can even remember. Also, this song will always have a special place in my heart because it is one of the first song I ever released on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.

  26. This year has actually been good to me so far, hopefully it stays this way. Coming back from being virtual has honestly been best for me. I thought it wouldn’t go so great since I was home for a year doing all of my work. When I came back I have been able to stay on top of all of my work. First nine weeks I started off slow but I was able to pass my classes with A’s.
When I graduate from BTW high school I plan to go to Georgia Tech. I will be majoring in cybersecurity since I love the qualities it holds. Cybersecurity offers a lot of good benefits for me. Not just making good money but also allows me to travel different places with my job. Although, I honestly think I will end up changing my major to something else.

I like this song because I am honestly rich off pain. This songs means a lot to me because one day I will be able to look back at my pain. Seeing how it help make me who I am at that moment. Like Rod say “I came from nothing but still they goin hate.” When a person is up instead of congratulations you will get hate instead.

  27. Being back to school in person is pretty stressful at some times but I try not overwhelmed myself with the work. I'm still getting use to actually studying for quizzes and test because last year I just cheated on every single one. I'm kinda mad that I'm not taking P.E. this year because I really don't want to take Spanish. I just feel like there's no point of taking it if u don't actually want to learn the language, and some of the teachers get on my nerves, but besides that I'm chilling.

The days Im not overwhelmed with work I usually just play 2k on my PS4. I go play some pick up games at the gym or just chill out with my family. Sometimes I cut my neighbors grass so I can make a little money on the side. I only charge them depending on how big their yard is. When I get older I want to go into marketing so I can become a Real Estate Agent.

The song I chose was "Blessings"by Big Sean. I chose this song because it's one of my favorite rap songs that tell a message. Cause when I feel like I'm going through something I'll always know that there is always someone else who going through something worse and they stay strong about it.

  28. In 6 more months I will officially be an alumni at BTW Magnet High School. Following graduation I will be attending college. I plan to major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. My plan is to become a juvenile defense attorney. I've chosen this career because there are many kids who get lost in the system and I want to help change that.

For me the hardest part of this year has definitely been deciding on a college. With there being so many options it all boils down to which has the best program for my major and who offers the most in scholarships. Also, finding scholarships has been really difficult. Maintaining school, work, and other activities has become a slight challenge while preparing for college but it'll all pay off soon.

  29. My freshman year attending at Booker T. Washington has been marvelous. The teachers are outstanding and have patience. My teachers actually want me ti succeed and become successful. I will be able to have college credits. We have a lot of freedom compared to public schools. My experience so far has been great.
As the school year started, I have been trying to accomplish my goals. I have been training for volleyball and working out. I made the volleyball team on Play Like Winners Volleyball Club. My grades have been outstanding and improving. I stated actually taking school serious and i see way much better progress. I wish to continue to accomplish my goals and seeing improvement.

I admire this performance because it’s talks about how close your dreams are to becoming true. It talks about how letting “wrong” things get away from you. Also, how different feelings haunt you but you don’t let it get in your way.

  30. It’s Sophomore Year! I can’t even believe it. But it’s still as if we’re Freshmen. This year sorta is our introduction to High School. We didn’t even finish Middle School if you don’t remember. So entering the school for the first time, felt like a new beginning. But we have to continue to move, as the future is quickly approaching.

And as we’re growing up. I’m not really afraid anymore. Like college is knocking. And to make sure you want to go pans out, you have to do well on a single sheet of paper. If you don’t know yet, I want to be a meteorologist when I grow up, but that would require me to move decently away. And that’s really scary, I won’t have any family if I go to Texas A&M. My only family members will be in Houston and in Baton Rouge which is decently far away. So it’ll be on my own journey, trying to just figure my way through. Which is crazy! But I gotta do it.

The song I chose was The Distance by Cake. I feel it's a motivational song. Unlike other motivational songs, it’s Alternative, and not slow-paced. I first heard it during a football game on CBS, and it was for the PGA Tour. But it reminds me that you can go the distance, and that you'll go far, and that resonates with me.

  31. High school has gone by so fast, now I am a junior almost half way through the school year. Choir was so much fun my freshmen year we did everything before Covid hit.We went to the fair, bowling,to the mall,we went everywhere. Now we don't go anywhere. Choir is so different from what it used to be. Mr. William says we don't go on field trips because of the covid rules but even if those rules weren't there we still wouldn't go because of the non singing choir.

  33. Being back in school has been an big adjustment for me. The last time I was around people I was very friendly, I had a lot of friend as well. Being Quarantined changed my perspective on people, and life itself. We haven't really traveled like we use to because of corona but I don't really take corona serious so I still go places. My year has been pretty neutral I guess I have no complaint.
School has been school, meaning nothing new but my grade and the work. I like my teachers, and some of the students. I have been trying to keep up with my grades and that is going well. I have took up drawing even though I can't do it that good. So everything is going good and hopefully it keeps going good.

  34. I have been enjoying my first year of being in person at BTW. I believe the school is the best Magnet school in Montgomery when it comes to being yourself and being in a positive learning environment. For the most part, the school is filled with supportive students who have common interests. This is what makes BTW a good school in my opinion. I've had a good first semester and I look forward to many things coming up in my future at the school.

Improvements I'd like to see in myself when I come back the next semester are not procrastinating and getting work in on time. I usually do good with my work, I just procrastinate so much that it hurts my grade. I'm looking forward to finishing the basketball season, and all other things that are to come for the rest of the school year. I'm especially excited for the new school next year. I think being in the building will give students a sense of excitement about being in school that's good for their education. I'm also excited to see what is to come with choir, and how performances work. Since this is my first time being in a choir i'm new to all of this. I am glad I attend the school I do and look forward to the further and seeing what happens!

Above is the link to "the bigger picture" performed live at the 63rd annual Grammys by Lil Baby. I love this song because it was very meaningful to the black lives matter movement that was occuring at the time of it's release. It also showed Lil Baby to be more than what most people saw him as, which was just a "trap rapper". He showed that his music speaks a bigger message than what most people believe and it makes me happy anytime I hear the song.

  35. I am enjoying my second year of being in person at BTW. Though it is this year, it is my first full year of being in person. It is a challenge to keep up with work because everyone is trying to get back into the groove. I have a bit of an issue turning work in on time, an issue that I never had before the pandemic. During the pandemic, all I did was cheat, so I am getting used to doing my own work again. I am glad, however, that I am on time and doing good on all of my ACT's.

I am in a play of Macbeth. It is an abridged version of Shakespeare's Macbeth, but set in space. WE use lightsabers and everything. I auditioned as a joke but I actually got a part and I am looking forward to performing.

  36. It was honestly big adjustment for me going back to school.I was at home for almost 2 years.I didn't have to get up as early everything. I also didn't have to asked to use the restroom. I had to get back to being around as many people everyday. I'm enjoying my time at BTW being a freshman. I have some of the best teachers every. They make sure I understand my work and assignments. They also make sure I'm prepared for the future.I'm looking forward to my future years at BTW.

  37. Last year was my freshman year, but we were virtual that year. Returning to in-person learning was quite the adjustment to make and, to be honest, I am still in the middle of readjusting to normal life. Things have changed, and it is actually quite stressful. Gone are the short periods of free time and rest. If you fall behind, then it's very hard to catch up. It can still be done, but that doesn't mean it's easy, because it isn't. But other than that, sophomore year has been ok so far. Not good, but not bad either.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ I slightly enjoy this song because it is easy to get into.

  38. Being at BTW was very depressing freshman year. BTW was an environment that I didn’t want to be in due to the building, peers, and etc.My perspective changed tremendously when the pandemic hit. While students were able to choose if they wanted to come to school or be virtual school was amazing.I was able to have free time, study hall, and there were least kids at school.

Despite this loss there was a major gain starting my Junior year. This includes, being able to participate in more clubs, being a representative for my class and much more. BTW has been changing for the better and over time it has became a place I am willing to come to. Everyone says Junior year is always hectic but I think this year is going to be good. In conclusion, in order to see change in BTW the whole student body has to change.

  39. I have recently started getting into organized crime films. I am currently watching The Godfather trilogy. I love the action and how the you want to root for the so called “bad guy”. It entertains me how they get their money and how they cleverly move around the law. They show the crime life’s highest highs and lowest lows.

Although they seem on top of the world it still most likely in one of two ways. This is either by death or incarceration. It’s astonishes me how close to life these movie actually are. Only a few are left to tell their tales. I for one want to se a mobster win.

  40. I went to a gas station and wanted a hot beverage to start my day. While on my venture for hot liquid I came across the French vanilla cappuccino machine. As I grabbed a medium cup to receive this heavenly libation. I started to ponder the creation of this cappuccino. This is what led me down this rabbit hole of research to figure out the origin.
The word hails from Italy, as you probably knew. Though the word did not come from how the coffee was made but, from the color. It looked like the Capuchin friar’s robe. Their brown robes resembled the coffee. The name ended up sticking with the beverage throughout history.
