My favorite part of showcase was the musical theatre pieces and the dance pieces. I enjoyed the musical theatre pieces because they manage to sing, dance, and engage the audience- all with 110% effort and enthusiasm. Their voices blend well and you can hear each part clearly. I enjoyed the dance pieces because the costumes were wonderful and the choreography performed matched the accompaniment and the style well. I feel we could have engaged the audience a bit more because none of the audience members, from what I saw, were particularly enjoying themselves, but that might have been the people beside me.
ReplyDeleteI gave as much effort as I could but after a while I began to give what I was presented with. In other words, at a certain point on Saturdays performance I didn't give as much effort I could have. For next year's showcase I would like to see more collaboration with the different magnets as well as incorporation of all magnets.

I only saw parts of Showcase through rehearsal, and I'm going off of what I saw... My favorite part was probably when the Piano Magnet played "Marches" on the piano. Of what I saw, only the "realisticness" (how realistic it looks)(sorry it's not a real word) of painting the flower dress needed improvement.
ReplyDeleteYes, I gave it my best effort (it actually takes a LOT of effort to effectively resemble a marionette puppet). Next year, I would like a bass singer contest (where we repeat the chorus over and over, each time getting lower, until the basses drop out, one by one) and maybe some older songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "I Love Rock And Roll", "I Wanna Rock", "Stand By Me", "Bad (by Michel Jackson)", "Rocking Robin", "Smooth Criminal", "Lean On Me", "Don't Stop Believing", "Surfing USA", "Barbara Ann", "Ghost Busters Theme Song", "Footloose", and "All Star", just to name a few. I'm not implying that the bass singer contest has to be only in choir... all magnets who have a member who sings bass can join... Maybe we can all come together and write a song for it.

My favorite part of Showcase was our Thriller piece. I enjoyed crawling down the aisle and being in the audience staring at the people in the crowd. The only thing I think needed improvement was the costumes. I like the all black idea for our piece, but i wish we could've spiced it up with ripped up clothing and made it more realistic.
ReplyDeleteNext year, I would like o see more performances, bigger outfits/costumes, and just to top this year's Showcase. I think it would be a good idea to maybe have a special guest, such as alumni to sing or maybe dance or something. I would like to see crowd participation too. I want to get the crowd engaged more than what they actually are. Showcase next year will be great.

My favorite part of Showcase was God Spell by Musical Theater. I loved the creativeness that was put into the costumes.I think that musical theater needed to work on their sound a little bit, they needed to be louder. The same critique is applied to the Thriller song.

I didn't preform in showcase but they looked like they put in a lot of effort.Next year I would like to see more organization and more singing performances done by the choral magnet. But I'm sure everything will work out great for next years Showcase.

My favorite part of showcase 2018 had to be the finale. The song was so powerful and I always love how all the magnets come together to make it happen. I also enjoyed the piano piece, it was very cheesy and cute. Oh, and the choir piece was pretty good too. Showcase was all together very good, although I feel there wasn't enough energy in a lot of the pieces. I also feel like musical theatre could have worked on their sound some more. Choir should have been more energetic and engaged. However, these are all easily fixed.
ReplyDeleteI gave as much effort as I could with a hurt foot, considering I couldn't even walk. I don't know if I will be at Showcase next year, but if I am, I would like to see a live mural by art again. I would also like to see a video that shows what we do during school, including magnets and regular classes. This way the students that attend from other schools can get a glimpse of what BTW is actually like, because I hope they know it goes beyond performing in Showcase. I think there should also be a finale song that does not have a soloist. I feel as though the finale should be everyone coming together and that effect is taken away a little once you have a soloist.

Many times, performers were sent out on stage with mics that did not work and were forced to speak louder so that they could be heard by the audience. Music did not come in on time and was too low in volume for Friday's night performance to Thriller. I did give my best effort when it came to stage presence, make-up, attire, and punctuality. I even offered to help other students out with their makeup, so we all could be on one accord. For next years showcase, I would like to see more than the one choir performance, in which we have been limited to. I hope that every magnet will be able to display their talent and showcase more enjoyable. I hope for there to be more step-dancing and solo acts. Although this years showcase wasn't the best, it was not the worst and I still enjoyed being apart of it.

BTW Showcase 2k18 was really nice. There was a well-balanced number of pieces that each magnet did. I think that each piece highlighted the theme of showcase very well. Every piece was very innovative and represented BTWMHS very well. For this year’s showcase, I did the very best that I could.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece in showcase was the law piece. I felt like this piece was something that the crown had never seen before, and was very innovative. The audience was able to receive very informative information, and also see a very beautiful dance performance. The only thing that showcase could have worked on was the professionalism of each performer. Many of the students did not take showcase seriously enough, although it is one of the major productions that BTW is known for. Or next year’s showcase, I would like to see even more beautiful pieces like DACA and “This is Me”.

Showcase 2k18 was actually really good. Although I had my doubts about it at first, it came together very well and every performance played a huge role in that. And I think that the pieces they selected portrayed the vision they had for the show without a doubt. And I know did the best I could to do all that I could to portray the vision.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece in showcase would have to be the opener, the song was just hype. They chose a good song, their choreography was good, and the message of the song fit the idea of showcase perfectly. Because showcase is about showcasing all that BTW has to offer. I think that showcase as a whole should try to be more inclusive, and give every magnet to showcase themselves to incoming students. I say that because if a person doesn't see what they're interested in being showcases, it may deter them from coming to BTW. And that is what I'd like to see more of next year in showcase, more magnets that don't usually perform showcase their magnet.

My favorite part lowkey is the finale. We look so good in our all white and diamonds. I especially loved my jewelry pieces. Parts I think improvement are students need to be more enthusiastic. Another thing is everybody needs to have more unity.
ReplyDeleteI’ll say I gave my best effort on Friday morning. The other two performances could’ve been better, with me and the other performers. Next year I would say if there was more communication it would be a lot better. Maybe if they have a treat after the last show for all performers, tech crew, and administrators. We should do something to relieve some stress.

BTW Showcase 2018 was great to me. It was a great experience to have for the first time. My favorite part was Single Men because I never really thought Xavier was really going to do a split and for them to a reinactment of Beyoncé was hilarious. I thought that Tech theater could’ve done a much better job with the mics and the music for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing is that choral could have done a better job as well with singing out more. I believe I did give an effort but I didn’t give my best effort. I don’t know if I was jus very nervous or what, but I didn’t do my best. Next year I would like to see more solo acts and I would like for more artists to show themselves how good they really are and put themselves in Showcase. Another thing I would like to see is the Law Magnet do something.

Showcase 2018 was great. My favorite part about showcase was "This is Me" and "Single Men". Single Men was fun to watch at the rehearsal. Plus you really would not expect anything like that. This is Me described who you are at BTW. Everyone is unique in their own way and you have to be yourself.
ReplyDeleteEven though it was chaos backstage, I feel like I did my best. We could have improved own our Thriller makeup. Some people looked like they were about to mime at church. Others looked like zombies. Next year I would like to some more acts like Single Men. I would also like to see Theatre do a little play or something.

This year showcase was really good. My favorite part was musical theatre and dance magnet. Musical theatre had good solos and high energy which is a plus. Dance was really good from what I saw and the costumes made it pop even more. In my personal opinion I felt like tech theatre could have been more prepared because the opening act couldn't even hear their music. For myself I did put forth effort, but when it hit the last night I didn't give it my all. That's not a excuse because you should put your all in anything you do in life. Next upcoming year I hope all the magnet would do a collaboration. That should be really nice. So looking forward to next years showcase.

Showcase 2018 was so much fun and a great success. I'm so proud to have been apart of it and hope that I am next year also. My favorite part of the show was, of course, the choral performance of "Thriller". I had fun dressing-up and pretending to be a zombie. I also enjoyed the God Spell performance by Musical Theatre and "Single Men" by the male ensemble.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the show was good, some performances could be improved like our volume during "Thiller", technical aspects and other singing acts making sure they stay on tempo. During Showcase week I was very tired but I continued to give it my all, so that i could do everything in my power to make the show great. I made sure I was on time to rehearsal and shows, that I had all wardrobe necessities and that I behave in an orderly way while on and off-stage. For next year's Showcase I wouldn't mind having another artist director or more involvement of all magnets. Every year we should improve, so that we can one day have an exceptional Showcase.
I really like this years showcase. The pieces this year were really different and showed a different side of BTW. My favorite part of showcase was the opening number. This Is Me was performed amazingly by the musical theater magnet. They had great stamina and fantastic stage presence.
ReplyDeleteI think the audio in showcase needs improvement. The microphones were terrible because you could barely hear performers unless they were holding a mic in their hand or had on a body mic. Sometimes the body mics would not work either. It made showcase a little less fantastic this year. I believe I put forward my best effort on stage and backstage. Next year in showcase I would like to see better backgrounds and costumes from each magnet.

Showcase this year was among one of my favorites if not my favorite. The fact that everyone, including myself, contributed so much to the show made it one of the best performances I have ever performed. However, as with any performance, there are a lot of things that need to be improved.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone would just focus more and not talk as much, we would get through rehearsals at a quicker pace and we do not have to endure everyone talking all the time. And even though I will not be at showcase next year, I would love to see a lot more humor and comity at showcase next year. Showcase is always an impressive performance and this year was no different.
My favorite part about showcase was the Thriller piece that we did. I think that we did an amazing job learning and incorporating the new choreography into our piece in such a short time. I believe that I have my best effort but did not receive the respect that I deserved. Every performance I danced in the aisles in the front with the stuck up people. They didn’t crack a smile or anything with all that effort I was putting in.
ReplyDeleteThe improvements I think that needed to be done with our performance was our energy and the costumes. The all black was nice, but we would’ve looked a lot better with actual zombie clothes. We looked basic and not that creative with just the black and make up. Next year, I would like to do more than one piece in showcase. It’s going to be my senior year, so I would like to do more performances overall either with the entire choir or with my friends. Overall showcase was amazing and is always a great experience to be apart of it. It's always nice seeing all of it come together with all of the hard work that is put into it by the performers and the crew that makes it all possible.

Showcase 2018 was overall a well done performance. Like previous years, the rehearsals may seem sub par however, the production always turns out great in the end. My personal favorite of Showcase was the jazz number performed by the Dance Magnet. The only aspect that could have used some improvement was the tech part of the show. In brief, the production was great as always.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the tech aspect needing improvement, my effort put into the show could have been better also. During rehearsals, there were times when I would get tired and sort of slack off. Nonetheless, I did not let my tiredness get in the way of my performance in front of the actual crowds. Next year. I would like to see
a theme of showcase that is not too broad but, also open. All in all, 2018 Showcase was a great performance.

My favorite part of showcase was when we performed ''Thriller'' and the finale. I liked when we did Thriller because I had fun putting on make up to look like a zombie and dressing like one. I felt like we put our all into it even though it was some technical difficulties. I also liked how we added the smoke to set the scene and the red lights that we danced in. I liked the finale also because it wasn't more so about you being seen, it was about you feeling the song, being into it, and singing to someone in the crowd.

I could've had more energy dancing and singing as well. I think the talking during rehearsals and backstage needs to be improved. A lot of people didn't know what was going on and happening because of the talking that was going on. For next years showcase I would like to see more acts and collaborations being performed. Also I would like for us to be more focused next year.

Showcase 2018 has just passed. It was my first and i really enjoyed it. I had many memorable and enjoyable moments during it. Some of my favorite parts were the musical theater magnet's opening act. Also the all men piece as well. To me the balance between performer and music's loudness could be fixed. The music was very loud.
ReplyDeleteDuring the performance, I put in lots of hard work and dedication. I do believe that my best effort was given. This year was great. To improve next year I would just make sure that there is a balance between music and singing.

I'd have to say my favorite part of Showcase was the finale, as I was able to get a taste of what it's like performing a solo on a really big stage. I liked how everyone came down the aisles and really surrounded everyone in the audience with a nice, full sound. I've been told by some students that the finale nearly brought them to tears, and how they were surprised by how well it was executed, and how inspiring it was. Be that as it may, I think everyone in "Thriller" could have been much more energetic, and a bit louder. I also think that the tech kids had one too many malfunctions during the live performances, as that did make a huge difference in the overall production.
ReplyDeleteDespite being sick, I think I did give my absolute best effort on stage. I loved being on stage, and I really felt the song as I was singing it. I think I could have been a little louder, but at that time, I really think I pushed myself as far as I could go, and I tried my best. In Showcase 2k19, I'd like to see more theatre acts, and a more diverse selection of arts. It seemed like during this year's showcase, the majority of the performance was singing, and although these individuals are talented, it gets boring to some people after a while; nevertheless, I thought Showcase 2k18 was really great overall, and I am excited to see what's in store for next year's production!

One of my favorite performances from showcase was the finale piece. I like how it was so uplifting and strong. I love how it came together. I will admit when we first started learning this song and practicing it i did not think it would sound good, but we all full through. Also liked our choir piece, we really tried our best and did well.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we could have improved in our sound, sometimes as choir we tend to loose energy and our sound seems to decrease when we dance . I personally felt like i did my best. I usually do not get a chance to stand in the front during performances, but this time i really feel earned it and i gave it my all. Showcase 2018 was good but next year i hope to see more performances and also more student involvement, i feel like this year and last year the adult took over and did not consult the students with anything. i feel like as new talents constantly flowing in the showcases will get better and better every year.

My favorite performance from showcase would have to be the finale because it was really nice for all the performing magnets to come together to perform a final piece. In my opinion something that could have been improved is the sound because the speakers weren't loud enough to me. I think I gave my best effort especially since this was my first time performing in showcase. Next year in showcase I think that the choral magnet should be able to perform more than twice at least.

ReplyDeleteShowcase 2018 went good in my eyes. My favorite part of the performance was the finale. That was a good song selection. I think the parts that needed improvement was everyone’s attitude about the whole showcase performance. It was just too many negative comments going around backstage.
On a brighter note though, I give my best effort in all three performances. The finale just so happened to be better then everything else to me. I would like to see each magnet perform more next year in showcase. Magnets should at least have about 10 minutes worth of stage presence in showcase, because there is so many different skills each magnet has to offer that it can not be limited to showing them in just one song, or act.
I really enjoyed showcase this year. My favorite part of showcase this year were the songs "You Will Be Found" and "All The Single Men". I really enjoyed the creativeness of the finale piece. I always enjoy the choir's male ensemble comical piece. I believe that both of these pieces and many others highlighted the showcase performance this year. It is always astonishing to see magnets come up with such an amazing showcase!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, the showcase was amazing there is always parts where the performers need improvement. I think choir as a whole we could have given a lot more energy especially in the audience for "Thriller". Musical theatre just needed to watch some of their pitches on the Greatest Showman piece. I know that I was not giving my all every night so I need to make sure next year I give 100% energy every night. Next year, I would like to see choir be able to have more pieces in the show because I feel like our magnet was not truly showcased. Overall, the magnets came together to put on an amazing showcase and I can't wait for next year's showcase.

The best part of showcase was the finale,but on the second performance.I feel like the all white really set the mood. My other favorite part was single men because the crowd seemed to love it. Though this is my first showcase, I feel like we needed some changes. I feel though as for "Thriller" we should have worn the zombie shirts from "POPS". It would've made the performance eerie. Another thing that probably needed work was the sound,but it's not tech fault.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I did a great job on both stage and backstage. I followed directions,and got there on time. For next year I would like for the choir to maybe do"Pink Panther", because all it needed was to be cleaned up, and it would've match the theme. But as a whole i feel like we should come together more like we did in the finale, because it really showed how talented we are together.

My favorite part of the performance was the finale and single men. All the soloists that performed in finale sounded so beautiful and i feel that the choir in the aisles sounded great too. However i think sound needs to be improved for the people in the aisles so that we can hear each other better and hear the music better. Also single men was awesome. It was so funny and i really enjoyed listening to the crowd's reaction to it. I think that evoking emotions from the crowd is one of the best parts of performing. Although the technical work with the microphones definitely could have been better.

Next year for showcase i feel like the girls should have a separate act like the boys performed single men. Overall , showcase 2018 was an awesome experience.

What I mean by that is mics etc. For this being my first showcase performance I feel like I gave my all and gave my best effort.
