Soundtracks

This week we will be looking at movie soundtracks. I can remember when I was in high school and I would fall in love with certain songs and then realize they were from movie soundtracks. Suffice it to say I would then go get the soundtrack. Choose a song from your favorite movie (current or past) and write at least a paragraph about why you like the song. How does it capture the movie's story line or a particular moment in the movie? Keep in mind that music written for movies, plays, and other performances are written for a specific moment in time insomuch that they express an emotion that cannot be explained with words alone. Include the link to the video and check your spelling, grammar, and punctuation. All posts are due by Friday, April 28, 2017 by 11:59 pm. No late posts or duplicate posts are accepted.

  1. The song that I chose is "Try Again" by Aaliyah from the movie "Romeo Must Die". I like the song because it is very catchy and brings more action to the movie. The movie is already action- filled and the song itself brings the dynamics to the movie. I liked the music video to the song because the choreography was clean. Normally, I don't like watching action movies, but "Romeo Must Die" is my favorite action movie.

  2. The song I chose is Scream by Zac Efron from "High School Musical 3". I chose this song because I relate to what Troy is feeling so much. He is conflicted about his life after high school and he is expressing it in the song. It is so powerful and it really makes me think about what I'm gonna do. Troy was confused about what college he was going to attend the entire movie, and this song is the peak.

  3. I chose "One Wing," sung by Jordan Sparks on the movie Sparkle. This song closes the movie as Sparkle, a.k.a Jordan Sparks, starts her solo career. She dedicated the song to her sister, Sister, who went to jail for Sparkle who killed Sister's husband after he had abused Sister physical. Sparkle released all her insecurities, doubts, and failures onto the stage. Sister believed in her and knew she would do it, and be her very best. This songs inspires me that you can't half do things, that every thing you must give your all.

  4. The song I chose is " In Love With Another Man " by Jazmine Sullivan from the movie Tyler Perry's Temptation. This song relates to the movie because the movie is based on being in love with another man. But in the movie the girl realized she's fell in love with the wrong man. And Jazmine Sullivan said that in her song also. The song goes great with that particular movie.

  5. The song I picked is "Fool of Me" by Meshell Ndegeocello. It is from the Love & Basketball soundtrack. It captures the movie's storyline because at the moment this song is played, Monica is playing "Q" for his heart in an one on one basketball game. She is doing this because in two weeks, Q would be getting married and she still had feelings for him. Monica technically lost the 1st game and as she was walking off of the court Q gets her attention and says "Double or Nothing". In the end, Monica and Q elope and have a child together.

  6. The song I picked is "Can't Back Down" by Demi Lovato. This comes from the Camp Rock 2 soundtrack. It captures the movie's storyline because it shows they won't back down from the other camp challenging them. It shows their determination and how much they care for the music camp. It also inspires you to not give up on what you want.

  7. The song I chose is "Think of Me" from The Phantom Of The Opera. This musical in general is absolutely stunning and this song has always been one of my favorites. In this song, La Carlotta is preforming for the new stage managers and her performance is interrupted by scenery falling on the stage; La Carlotta storm off and Christine Daae is finally able to showcase her voice instead of dancing in the Chorus. "Think of Me" is a song that marks the beginning of the rest of Christine's life and is what starts her career as an opera singer. My favorite version of the song is done by Emmy Rossum in the 2004 movie adaptation.

  8. The song I have chosen is "I want To be your man" by Zapp & Roger. This song is from the "Love and Basketball" soundtrack. This song is played in the background when Quincy and Monica are at the dance with different dates. However they are both looking over their date's shoulders at each other because they really wanted to be together at the time. I think this song is a perfect addition to Love and Basketball because Quincy really does want to be Monica's man. He even chose to be with her right as he was about to get married in 2 weeks. This song is easily one of my favorite songs in the movie, just as the movie is my favorite movie of all time.

  9. The song I chose for this blogpost is Never say Never by Justin Beiber and Jaden Smith. I loved the movie Karate Kid. This was a great movie because it was a modern version. I really enjoy the song because it has a great message as does this movie. This song is one of my favorites off of a movie soundtrack.

  11. The song that i chosrle is 'Almost There'from The Princess and the Frog.Although the song is performed by the main character in the movie it is actually sung by Anika Noni Rose. This movie is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also enjoy the fact that Princess Tiana is the first African American Disney Princess.
The song is very motivational and has a good message for anyone of any age.

  12. One of my favorite songs is "Don't You" by Simple Minds from "The Breakfast Club" soundtrack. This sing is such a dynamic part of the movie even though it comes it is very much so iconic. The song plays at the very end when the rebel lead character is leaving the school and walks in the distance and throws his fist in the air. This scene has been repeated several times throughout various movies and whenever you hear the song even if you don't know the movie you know that song. This song is one of favorites nit only because it is so catchy and rythmatic but also because it comes from my favorite movies. I have seen "The Breakfast Club" over several times and I know all the words to the movie and the dance scene. It also relates to the group and how after detention they hope to stay friends and to not be forgotten. It is a tear jerker for me and I love it.

  13. The song i chose is "And I am telling you" by Jennifer Hudson from the movie Dream Girls. This was a catchy song and it stood out to me . When Jennifer Hudson sung that song it had so much power behind it. It was actually an emotional song because she was telling a man that she was not leaving and she was not going anywhere. It's one of those songs that you can really feel.

  14. One of my favorite songs is "Colors of the Wind" from the movie Pocahontas. I like this song because Pocahontas is chastising Smith for his arrogance and ignorance, telling him that he doesn't understand the wonders of nature. The line "Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?" is where she makes the point that even though he stakes his claim to the Earth, he doesn't know how to nurture it. I also like this song because of how Pocahontas sings the melody to the song "Color of the Wind".

  15. One of my favorite songs is " Family " from the movie Dream Girls. This song just moves my spirit during the movie. If you just sit back and listen to what their saying. It's telling the true meaning of family. The message is so powerful. Family is a group of people you go through things with. Sometimes you may have to sacrifice things you probably don't want to for the love of family.

  16. I chose "Almost There" from Princess and the Frog because that's my favorite princess movie. It was hard to choose which movie soundtrack though because all of Disney's Princess' sountracks are lit. But Princess and the Frog got the soul movement that make you wanna dance and feel thier emotion. They make you want to be a part of the movie. More people , I feel like, can relate to most of the songs rather than the other Disney movies. And in the song I like the tension between the words and how she expresses them so dramatically. It makes my heart move when I hear this song.

  17. My favorite movie of all time is "Love & Basketball". The song I chose from this movie is "I Want to Be Your Man" by Zapp & Roger. I chose this song because if you watched the movie and song played when both Quincy and Monica were at the dance dancing together. I love the beginning of the song how the chimes come in. Then when they start singing the beat comes in. Like this song and how the scenery of the movie correlates together perfectly. Then the symbols add that dramatic effect to the song.

  18. My favorite movie soundtrack is "Sucker For Pain "by Lil Wayne, Eiz Kalifa, Imagine Dragon, Logic & Ty Dolla $ign featuring the X Ambassadors. The song is from the movie Suicide Squad and is amazing . It shows the epicness of the DC villans and how dangerous thry can be.It also a is a great fusion of pop and hip-hop. It is rare to see a good combination of these two.The synth really ties the music together especially when Wiz Kalifa and Lil Wayne rap.

  19. One of my favorite songtracks is Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” from The Lion King. This song was one of my favorites when I first heard it in the movie. However, listening to the full song is so much better than the movie. This song is beautiful and poetic and inspirational at the same time. This song in my opinion is why Elton John was so amazing with composing The Lion King.

  20. My favorite song is "A Heart is House for love" from "Five Hearbeats". It is my favorite movie of all time and I could watch it over and over and not get tired of it. In the scene of this song, the guys are in a talent show, but they're original song is being sabotaged by the piano player while they are trying to sing. The crowd is booing them off stage, but Eddie breaks out into an infamous solo and and catches the audiences attention and the group starts to sing in acapella and gains the audience support!!!

  21. The song I chose is "This is Me" by Demi Lovato from the Disney movie Camp Rock. This movie is awesome because it is all about music and a music camp. In this scene, Mitchie (Demi) is performing at the end of the Final Jam competition after getting banned from the performance. Prior to this night, a famous singer who also goes to the camp is searching for a girl that sings a song he heard a while ago, which happens to be Mitchie's song. This song is about confidence and being yourself. She gets a standing ovation at the end of her performance and Shane realizes that the song was by her.

  22. I chose “A change is going to come” by Sam Cooke. The soundtrack is on the movie “Daddy's little Girl”. The song became the anthem for the civil rights movement. The scene of the movie with the song was very sad when the father went to go get his girls and crashed to their mother's boyfriend car then got out and beat the man up. The actor was very mad that his babymomma's boyfriend was mistreating his precious daughters and trying to teach them some they never knew about. You could hear the brass and wind instruments family in the background. The lyrics of the song itself shows some kind of struggle that the person was going through.

  23. One of the worlds greatest and longest movies in history is the Titanic. This movie if infamously known for its song "My Heart will go on" by: Celine Dion. This song gives life to the movie and shows the romance throughout. This song represents when Jack dies and she refuses to move on without him. She goes her entire life holding on to the one thing that she kept near her heart for years.

The song I chose is “See You Again”, from the movie Furious 6. I like this song, because it reminds me of my grandmother. It is one of my favorites. I really enjoy the version without the rap, it makes the song even more special. “See you again” captures the sadness of the movie. The emotions I get from this song is unexplainable.

The song I chose is "Father Can you hear me?" from Tyler Perry's movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman. I chose this song because this song shows that God could help anyone change. The actor in the movie character was on drugs really bad, and in the end she came to the church where her daughter was singing and joins in on the song. It really adds to the emotion of the of the whole movie. It reflects the difficult times they went through during the movie and now in the end all the troubles are gone. This song represent relief and happiness.

  26. The movie soundtrack I chose was the" The Cheetah Girls Movie a soundtrack ". The song I chose was "Cinderella" by the Cheetah Girls. This song is very empowering because it has always taught me not to always look for a guy to do everything for you. In the song the cheetah girls talk about how they don't want to be like Cinderella. They plan on making changes in their life all by themselves. The cheetah girls movie is girl power orientated and teaches young girls about the power of sisterhood.

  28. The song I chose is "Don't Worry Bout a Thing" by Tori Kelly. The song is featured as the main song and ending for the Disney movie Sing. The song describes how a person can do anything they put their mind to and doesn't have to worry about a thing. In the movie, the plot is based on the characters doing their dreams to be apart of a show. I believe the song is very inspiring and motivation. I later did deeper research to find out that it was a remake of Stevie Wonder's song. This song truly inspires me that , everybody has a thing

One of my favorite songs from a movie is "Boom Clap" by Charli XCX. It is from the movie The Fault in Our Stars. It is a electropop ballad. The song is played during the most uplifting part in the movie, so I think it adds to the feel of the movie. It's a love song but not with a really cliche feel to it. The song is enthusiastic about wanting to fall in love, but has a little sadness in it also. The chorus and the verses have a nice contrast because the verses are sung softly, but the chorus has a lot of attitude.

  30. Well the big secret here that most people don’t know about is that laundry detergent is just one way of getting clothes clean but the powerful forces of magnetism is another. It’s so simple and yet something you might see in a Sci-Fi movie. Magnetic Laundry System Reviews These are not your regular fridge magnets these magnets are at least 390 times stronger, they are like the hulk of magnets.
